Doug Polk closing second-largest Youtube poker channel

Doug Polk has been running the second-largest poker channel on Youtube since June 2016. The three-time WSOP bracelet winner was creating highlights of his twitch poker streams at first, but quickly also started adding additional poker videos including hand analysis, poker news, and more.

Nowadays, there are hundreds of different videos on his channel which has 287,000 subscribers. Only Daniel Negreanu has more subscribers on Youtube than Polk – 391,000.

The reason behind Polk’s decision is fairly simple.

“I got to a point where I really didn’t wanna make poker videos anymore at all. I really didn’t want to. But I kept doing it.”

Moreover, he mentions his side bet with Joe Ingram which involves him jumping from a plane if he didn’t make 80 videos – Polk won that bet in 2019.

However, Polk kept doing it for multiple reasons. His videos are making money and people enjoy watching them. Overall though, there is the main reason for him to step down.

“I just don’t like poker anymore. I really don’t, I am sorry to say that.”

Joe Ingram also invited Polk to his most recent podcast a couple of hours ago. Polk mentions in that podcast that bots have a negative impact on the game.

What’s up next?

Even though Polk won’t create poker videos in the future, he will keep creating Youtube content. He has already created a second Youtube channel in 2018 and will focus on it.

Polk is covering more general topics such as politics and global issues such as the coronavirus. He is going to create content frequently – there will five videos a week.
