Ukrainian born Yevgeniy Timoshenko has a staggering $7,323,812 in live winnings plus more than 4.5 million online, where he is a former Pocket Fives World #1 under the screen name “Jovial Gent”.
Frank Gu is a poker player as well, but his winning at live tournaments are comparatively low with only $9,945.
Is someone, who so much money really in need to sue his roommate for $90,000 or is it a matter of principle and are poker players really unreliable people?
Apparently yes, as his legal team has already filed a lawsuit at a Manhattan Court last Wednesday.
What has happened?
After becoming good friends Timoshenko and Gu decided to move together into a Union Square apartment in September 2010, for the prize of $7,000 per month.
They agreed, that Timoshenko advances the full rent and Gu pays his share of the rent amounting to $2,625 directly to Yevgeniy, but former failed to meet his duties.
Thereupon, Timoshenko quit the rental contract and they moved out in September 2011.
According to the lawsuit Gu still owes Timoshenko $15,484 in rent and $2,181 in utilities.
and Gu never paid back…
But this is not all, not by a far margin as Frank also borrowed $50,000 for investing in penny stocks, which he never paid back.
On top of that, Yevgeniy Timoshenko also left $10,000 in cash in the apartment for safekeeping and guess what, they also were never returned.
Sue amounting to $90,000
Last but not least, Gu owes $1,160 for basketball tickets and $1,800 for legal fees related to the his penny stocks.
The lawsuit therefore amounts to a total of not less than $90,000.
The 29-year-old Yevgeniy Timoshenko now lives in Seattle and his last cash was at the 2017 Aussie Millions, where he finished Runner-Up in the A$2,500 Pot-Limit Omaha for A$ 49,620.
