Alexandru Papazian made poker history as the first Romanian to win a WSOP Bracelet
Alexandru Papazian had already made poker history beforehand as the first Romanian player to ever win a WSOP bracelet!
At the 2017 WSOP he shipped Event #60: $888 No-Limit Hold’em Crazy Eights event for a staggering $888,888. This format and Papazian’s play must be the perfect fit as he now won this tournament for a second time!
Four years later, at the WSOP Online 2021, Alexandru Papazian defeated a field of 2,350 players to win his second bracelet together with the $241,128 first place prize.
Big Names at the Final Table
Further big names at the final table were Patrick Mahoney (5./$76,250), and Nikola Minkov (7./$42,879) from Russia.
The preliminary decision fell, when Alexandru Papazian won a huge pot from Santiago Varela to establish a significant chip lead with only three players left.
The Romanian had a lead of more than 2 to 1, when heads-up play against Tal Noach from Israel started and he never looked back.
In the final hand, Papazian flopped Top Two Pair and managed to get Tal Noach to out in all of his chips on the river with a busted straight draw:
This hand secured Alexandru Papazian his second WSOP bracelet in the Crazy Eights event and another entry in the poker history books.
