More Trouble for the WSOP Flasher
The last name “Straus” has a very favorable connotation in the poker world.
Jack Straus, the winner of the 1982 WSOP Main Event, is one of the game’s true legends. His famous “chip & a chair’ story is a cherished poker story for fans of the game around the world.
The “WSOP Naked Bandit” Kenneth Strauss, however, seems to do everything to tarnish the name.
He’s been indicted on charges of making a terroristic threat. He’s being held in custody on a $150,000 bail – raised from $20,000 in July, when he was originally arrested.
In July, Strauss sent threatening messages on Twitter such as these:
Shootings are taking place all over Las Vegas. Please leave me alone @VenetianVegas I have no place to go currently. And all Casinos that have me banned will be destroyed effective immediately. And @Rio, get my belongings together immediately when @POTUS declares safe I’m going.

In all due respect DO NOT leave your place of residence tonight. All restaurants are closing at 6pm ET. All businesses need to close now. This is serious shit! Don’t go to
Your @MLB ballpark. There won’t be any games. It’s my time! I’m done only being a legend in Pittsburgh!— Ken Strauss (@kpittboy) July 23, 2019
He also tweeted directly at President Donald Trump, writing: “You will DIE! #F[***]U @POTUS”.
If the jury finds Ken Strauss guilty, he’ll be facing 10 years in a federal prison of the United States.
According to the US penal code, “to willfully threaten to commit a crime that will result in death or great bodily harm; the threat is made with the specific intent that it be taken as a threat; it is so unequivocal, unconditional, and specific as to convey a gravity of purpose and immediate prospect of execution; the threat actually causes fear in the victim; and the fear is reasonable” is a class C felony punishable by a decade behind bars.
The Story of the WSOP Naked Bandit
Ken Strauss gained the attention of poker fans for all the wrong reasons during Day 1 of this year’s WSOP Main Event.
A video of him went viral where he exposed himself in the Rio Casino, then threw his shoe at the dealer. That is how he got his nickname “the WSOP Naked Bandit”.
However, it turned out that wasn’t the first time he felt the need to show his penis to everyone.
According to the local NBC affiliate in Las Vegas, Ken Strauss exposed himself on top of a crabs table in the Luxor Hotel & Casino.
But that is not where the disturbing facts about this man end.
Later in July, after his flashing incidents, security kicked him out of the Red Rock Hotel for allegedly trying to lure an 8-year-old girl into the pool with him…
After that, the threatening messages started coming from him. He went to the Venetian where he made a suicidal call to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police, warning that he’s also willing to harm others if they come near him.
Thus the WSOP Naked Bandit was ultimately arrested on July 27th at the Trump International Hotel just off the Las Vegas Strip. He will appear in court for his initial arraignment on September 10th.
The WSOP Naked Bandit’s Poker Results
Kenneth Strauss does have a Hendon page. It shows $8,646 in live tournament winnings.
He even cashed in the latest World Series. He came in 122nd out of a field of 855 in the $5,000 No Limit Hold’em 6-handed event for $7,402. That is by far his biggest live tournament score.
However, that’s hardly the thing people will remember him for…
