A dealer in the Event #22 Ladies NL Championship tournament has upset the players at his table by declaring that he previously swore never to deal to women again. Kyna England tweeted how he dealt a ladies only event at the Golden Nugget in the past and did not want to repeat the experience.
WSOP Ladies Event Dealer Doesn’t Likes Ladies Events!
Dealer just told our whole table “I dealt a ladies event at the golden nugget once and swore I would never do it again”…here at the @wsop ladies event. Well sir let’s get you TF out of here then.

Aria Director of poker Ops, Sean McCormack, didn’t miss an opportunity to stir up trouble at the rival card room and very soon there was a slew of replies criticising the dealer’s attitude.
I mean, who even says that?!? pic.twitter.com/xSgfpZ7M27

The WSOP Ladies Event Is Important for Poker
It’s easy for men to shrug off what appears to be a meaningless comment here, but the women who play in this event take it seriously as well as feeling it’s important for bringing more female players into the game.
I dislike anyone that makes anyone feel bad at the poker table, this is beyond the scope of the dealers job. The ladies event is an important event for us. It is not a lesser event.

Of course, this point of view was bound to bring out the usual arguments about why we need a ladies event in a sport or game where physical advantages are meaningless.
Whatever the reader’s point of view on the matter, ladies only tournaments are known to bring new talent into the game that might not have done so in a mixed environment to begin with. This is a win-win situation for poker.
Kyna England added the following tweet to say that this comment wasn’t the only faux pas by the Caesars employee, after she was accused of being oversensitive.
There was more. But I don’t feel the need to explain.

What about the Men Joining in?
It has long been a running joke about which men are going to play in the WSOP ladies event. Shaun Deeb who just got robbed in the Rio while being asleep has played it on more than one occasion, even once in drag.
This year, though, the buy-in structure of $10,000 to enter, with women having a reduction down to $1,000, has kept the boys away. This makes it just such poor value for even the best players on the planet.
Poker photographer Haley Hochstetler couldn’t help poking a little fun at Shaun Deeb when showcasing a few of her snaps from the event on her Twitter account.
