The WSOP 2024 Main Event has played through the first seven days, eliminating the field from 10,112 down to the last 18. Kristen Foxen sits in fifth place with a great chance of making history.
There’s no doubt now who the majority of fans will be rooting for. A female winner of the most prestigious poker tournament on the calendar would be a marketing dream.
A long 30 years ago, Barbara Enright made the final table and no woman has achieved that feat since.
Foxen and Vanessa Selbst have both won three bracelets each.
It’s not all been plain sailing for Foxen, though, because her dream nearly ended when she was down to her last five big blinds.
All-in with ace-five against pocket queens and still behind on the turn looked a disaster, but a miracle ace river flipped the script and set her back on the way to 59 big blinds.
Along with Kristen Foxen, Swedish online crusher Niklas Astedt is tipped as one of the favourites. Back in 2021, he was voted the best online poker player of all time and he currently sits in fourth place.
Brian Kim is another high-stakes regular in the top 10. With $7.3 million in live winnings he will be a force to be reckoned with.

John Racener Favourite to Win $3,000 H.O.R.S.E.
John Racener is currently taking on Gary Bolden for the winner’s prize and a bracelet in Event #91: $3,000 H.O.R.S.E..
Just like yesterday, a heads-up battle was taking too long to complete so the organisers told the players to come back tomorrow.
Racener is the favourite, holding 10 big bets to Bolden’s 4. We expect an early result on this one.
The event also came to note when Jeremy Ausmus made the final table to equal Phil Hellmuth’s record for the most in one series.
Ausmus has now made seven final tables this summer and is now leading the Player of the Year race.
