WSOP 2024 Day 35 – Bloody Bustout for Hellmuth in Tag Team

The Tag Team event at the WSOP is always a fun affair but it was also a short one for Phil Hellmuth and his sidekick from the world of science, Allan Mishra.

 Event #75: $1,000 Tag Team No-Limit Hold’em

An incredible 1,437 teams of two ponied up the $1k entry fee, including the likes of Hellmuth, Mike Matusow, Josh Arieh and his better half, with fancy dress an optional extra.

Maria Ho and Kami Hudson were another couple who joined Hellmuth and Matusow on the rails, but the Arieh’s advanced, as did English online crusher Chris Moorman and Dan Charlton, who bagged a top ten stack.

Event #70: $400 Colossus No-Limit Hold’em

Twenty-thousand entries have already been shorn down to just 92 players, led by Joel Vanetten, with 2004 Main Event champ Greg Raymer among the chasing pack.

German soccer star Max Kruse was involved in one of the most incredible hands of the series, Daniele Nestola at least having a wonderful bad beat story as consolation…

Daniele Nestola: K♠ K♦

The pre-flop all-in looked good for Nestola, but the flop was a hammerblow…

…and the river was a slap in the face…

Sukel Patel was the unfortunate bubbleboy on day 3 as the players went from late reg to in the money in a marathon 14-hour session and saw Todd Ivens turn his max-late reg into top of the chip counts.

Todd Brunson and Norman Chad are still in the mix, but Allen Kessler and Anthony Zinno were among the casualties. The survivors will play to a winner today, with $376,476 and WSOP gold waiting up top.
