WSOP 2024 Day 31 – Daniel Negreanu Leads Bracelet Bonanza

There were bracelets galore handed out on day 31 of the 55th Annual World Series of Poker yesterday in Vegas, with Daniel Negreanu’s 7th gold obviously the headline maker.

 Negreanu scooped the prestigious Event #58: $50,000 Poker Players Championship for a $1,178,703 score and he was joined in the winner’s circle by no less than five other winners.

Argentina’s Franco Spitale bagged an even bigger score, $1,250,125, by taking down Event #54: $1,500 Millionaire Maker No-Limit Hold’em while Sean Jazayeri won Event #59: $1,000 Super Seniors No-Limit Hold’em for a $368,025 payday.

In Event #60: $3,000 No-Limit Hold’em, Italy’s Paolo Boi emerged triumphant from a field of 1773 to take the $676,900 top prize. Event #63: $1,500 No-Limit 2-7 Lowball Draw (7-Handed) saw David Funkhouser bag the win and $123,314 while the Event #64: $600 No-Limit Hold’em DeepStack gold bracelet and $289,323 went to Christopher Moen.

As if that wasn’t enough action for one day, another six events were taking place in the packed Horseshoe  and Paris Las Vegas casinos.

Event #62: $600 PokerNews Deepstack Championship

Only five players are left in the hunt for the bracelet and $282,876 top prize. Day 2 chip leader Kenny Huynh was the only bracelet holder among the final 60 but fell in 9th spot.

Event #65: $5,000 Seniors High Roller No-Limit Hold’em

Mike Matusow, John Juanda and Eli Elezra were among those who fell yesterday, “Mike the Mouth” with the consolation of a $10k min. cash, while Kevin Nathan leads the charge for the $573,876 top prize.

Event #66: $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Championship (8-Handed)

The PLO “Main Event” at the WSOP broke an attendance record yesterday, with 811 entries setting up a prizepool of $7,542,300 and players already in the money.

Among the 48 survivors are Jerry Wong, Michael Mizrachi, Stephen Chidwick and “best player without a bracelet”, Swedish online crusher Niklas “Lena900” Astedt.

Those who fell short of the paid spots include Phil Ivey, Alex Foxen, Maria Ho and former (NLH) Main Event champs Koray Aldemir and Ryan Riess. John Hennigan and Benny Glaser reached paydays but failed to survive day two.

Event #67: $500 Salute to Warriors – No-Limit Hold’em

Jamie Gold, the 2006 Main Event champion, was among the 678 players left standing from 4517 entries as day 1 came to a close, with Game of Gold star Olga Iermolcheva also finding a bag.

Event #68: $2,500 No-Limit Hold’em

Poker fanatic Neymar joined the likes of Phil Ivey on day 1 of the $2500 NLH but the Brazilian soccer star – who last weekend buried Alan Keating – couldn’t make it through the day.

Neymar joined $250k SHR winner Santhosh Suvarna and six-time bracelet star Scott Seiver on the rail, but Phil Ivey bagged a top 10 stack despite late regging the event.

 Event #69: $1,500 Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo 8 or Better

Ivey’s late reg above was due to busting out on the opening day of the popular (amongst the elite, at least) Seven Card Stud bracelet event. Ivey was joined by Phil Hellmuth, Shaun Deeb, Mike Matusow, Brian Rast  and several other stars. Jon Turner leads the remaining 157 players.
