WSOP Bans Electronic Devices and Launches WSOP+ App to Register for Events

WSOP organisers have announced a blanket ban on all phones and other electronic devices during the final three tables of any event this summer.

About the WSOP

Short history. The World Series of Poker began in 1970 at Binion’s Horseshoe with a single table of seven legends. Benny Binion crowned Johnny Moss the first “World Champion.”

Today the WSOP runs for seven weeks, hands out 100‑plus gold bracelets, and pays well over $300 million each summer.

How it works. Each tournament, Hold’em, Omaha, Stud, even Dealer’s Choice, is its own fight for a bracelet. Buy-ins range from $300 (Casino Employees) up to $250,000 (Super High Roller). Bust once and you’re out, except in “re-entry” events where you can fire again.

Why bracelets matter. A bracelet is poker’s Super Bowl ring. Phil Hellmuth leads with 17. Chris Moneymaker’s 2003 win sparked the online poker boom. The WSOP still changes lives every year.
