Steve Aoki Signs WPT Ambassador Deal
Steve Aoki is known as a keen poker player, regularly playing in high-stakes events with other celebs in the Hollywood set.
The 44-year-old award-winning DJ, producer and fashionista is a close friend of Phil Hellmuth and even appeared on an episode of Poker After Dark on the PokerGO platform with Dan Bilzerian last year.
“It’s such an honor to be joining the WPT family. I have watched and admired the WPT for many, many years and to now be part of the WPT family; it feels so surreal and I am incredibly grateful,”
Can Steve Aoki bring new players to poker?
It’s a fact that even the most successful brands risk becoming tired after many years at the pinnacle of their industries.
Steve Aoki will be looking to bring a fresh look to the WPT, hopefully encouraging a new wave of poker players to come and take up the game.
Adam Pliska, CEO of the WPT, said in a statement:
“The passion and energy in which Steve Aoki approaches every aspect of his life is both inspiring and very much in line with the new vision of the WPT,”
“Steve’s love of poker and his dedication to inspiring others to live life to the fullest makes him the ideal WPT brand ambassador. We are honoured to have him play an active role in our transformation and in the celebration of World Poker Tour’s 20th anniversary.”
With 8.2 million followers on Twitter the WPT is guaranteed to increase its reach massively.
Recently, during one of his sets, he stopped the show and revealed that he is a massive NFT fan, showing the crowd his $859,000 purchase.
We wonder how long it’ll be before he’s trying to outdo the likes of Bill Perkins and Mike McDonald to see who can buy the most expensive digital art.
What’s Coming Up?
WPT Season 20 kicks off next week at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, followed by three WPTDeepstacks stops in Amsterdam, Sydney and then Sacramento, California.
In the middle of the year, we have been promised an invitation-only event to raise funds for the Aoki Foundation, a charity founded by the superstar DJ.
So, the stage is set and soon we’ll get to see what Steve Aoki can bring to the poker world. We’re excited.
