9 top streamers competing for 100,000 for charity
The concept of the first-ever Twitch $100K Poker Charity Invitational was simple ans smart: 9 top streamers competed at the poker table for a total prize pool of $100,000.
$50,000 went to the winner and all the prize money was given to a charity of their own choice.
Jason and Lex were both playing for REG Charity (Raising for Effective Giving) founded by poker pros Liv Boeree, Igor Kurganov, Phillipp Gruissem and Stefan Huber.
Live commentary was provided by poker pro and fellow Twitch streamer Jeff Gross alongside poker commentator David Tuchman.
“Perfect way to build awareness for the poker scene”
Farhan Ahmed, Head of poker partnerships at Twitch said:
“We wanted to shine a light on our incredible poker community. Since we know that our users are very supportive of charitable events, this was a perfect way to build awareness for the poker scene, while raising money for good causes.”
The Lineup
The lineup was a great mix of the most popular Twitch Poker streamers such as Jason Somerville and Lex Veldhuis and eSports icons such as “Reckful” (World of Warcraft), “Hafu” (Hearthstone), “Onscreen” (Counterstrike), “MitchJones”, “Timmac” and “PMSProxy”, plus In Real Life (IRL) streamer “AndyMilonakis”.

The return of Jason “JCarver” to Twitch
Most remarkable from a poker perspective is that the Twitch $100K Poker Charity Invitational brought the return of the King of Twitch Poker.
Jason “JCarver” Somerville is not only the Godafather of Twitch Poker, he is also the most successful poker streamer of all time.
However, Somerville hasn’t been streaming on his Twitch channel since the 21st of May 2017 and there were already rumors that he might not return.
So poker fans all around the world were very happy, when Jason announced that he will stream the event live on his Twitch channel.
The Twitch $100K Poker Charity Invitational was a huge success!
This is one of the reasons, why this event turned out to be a huge success. The live streams had more than 30,000 viewers, which is by far the most we have seen in a long time on Twitch Poker.
Another one is that ESports are incredible successful on Twitch and streamers such as Reckful or ItsHafu have huge amounts of followers.
hope you guys enjoyed this weekend’s charity streams! glad to have won $10K for @REGcharity. big thanks to the teams @Twitch, @PokerGO, and @ARIAPoker for making this happen!
congrats @itshafu and @MitchJonez!
