Vanessa Selbst will be returning to competitive play and talks about the new poker cheating scandal!
Vanessa Selbst has retired from poker in 2017. However, it didn’t take too long for her to come back! Find out all the details below.
Selbst is not only one of the most popular poker players in the world, but she is also the most-accomplished female poker player in history.
She won three World Series of Poker bracelets throughout her career and was also the first female to play in a Super High Roller event.
By the time she stopped playing poker professionally, her total live tournament winnings exceeded $11,850,000. Moreover, she made it to five different final tables at different poker tours and managed to win three titles.
Selbst scored her biggest prize at the 2010 Partouche Poker Tour when she took home €1,300,000 for the first place.
After she retired from playing poker professionally, she decided to start working for Bridgewater Associates, which is the world’s both largest and most successful hedge fund.
Why the winningest woman in poker history left
Poker has changed a lot in the past decade. The game of No Limit Texas hold’em players nowadays are focusing more on the mathematical aspects of the game than ever before. That is especially true for online poker.
Vanessa Selbst felt like the games have been also becoming tougher which made it more difficult to play profitably. Moreover, she was also one of several players from the United States who couldn’t play online poker after Black Friday.

Furthermore her interests shifted and she was aiming to build a stable home for her family and she was also slowly losing interest in the game.
The Vanessa Selbst Comeback
Even though Selbst retired in 2017, she still played some live tournaments from time to time. She played in the WPT Borgata Poker Open Championship in September 2019 and in the WPT Main Event in February 2020.

She managed to make it ITM in both tournaments and now that she is coming back to poker, it is more than likely that more cashes are going to follow.
Now that she is back, there are plenty of things to catch up with. The most recent cheating scandal is certainly something that caught her attention.
Wait I’m only catching up to poker twitter now. So the big news is that jungle man did something considerably less shady than he did 10 years ago and which no one seems to remember or care about anyway?

That scandal obviously seems highly familiar to her and therefore she reminded the Twitter community of the historic “dogishead” scandal which took place in 2010 and was made public in 2011.
This just makes me sad for all the people in poker that don’t know about the Girah scandal and dogishead’s “life coaching” of Jungle. Seriously some of the more salacious drama that ever existed in the poker world.

Selbst is also going to start proving poker coaching. She has always been known for her aggressive playstyle which caused trouble for many of her opponents.
Therefore it is highly likely that many players will be interested in finding out how to improve their playstyle by learning from one of the most accomplished poker players in history.
