For fans of the superhighroller game in poker, the Triton Poker Series has become the number one attraction – the world’s biggest names playing massive buy-in events across the globe, with live streaming and social media second to none.
This past week or so has seen the likes of Tom durrrr Dwan, Dan Jungleman Cates, Isaac Haxton, Jason Koon and myriad other highstakes legends battling it out in Montenegro – but so far they have barely managed to reach the cash between them
Bryn Kenney has been the star of the show so far with two title wins, raking in HKD 32,530,000 ($4,780,000)
? “When it’s bad it’s good, when it’s good it’s great!”
? Congratulations @BrynKenney ??, winner of the HKD 500k NLH 6-Handed event, collecting HKD 11,230,000 (US$ 1,459,900) and his first ? #TritonPoker trophy!

Kenney’s excellent showing may not be so surprising, but we’ve also seen Ireland, Malaysia, Singapore, Denmark and Hong Kong flags flying on the winners’ rostrum – and many of those certainly weren’t expected.
Part of what sets the Triton roadshow apart from the rest of the global highrollers is the certainty that action will be followed by even more action – and brought to us in HD quality TV.
Cardroom big boys battle for supremacy
The highly-popular Short Deck poker variant is a must-watch – but it can be brutal for the players involved, as seen here with Kings Casino owner Leon Tsoukernik getting one over on Mr Macau Paul Phua…
Paul Phua (@PaulPhuaPoker) eliminated before the bubble by Leon Tsoukernik (@LeonKingsCasino) at the HKD 100k Short Deck Ante-Only event!

…and following it up almost immediately by busting Sam Greenwood on the bubble…
Better luck next time for Bubble Boy Sam Greenwood , eliminated by Leon Tsoukernik (@LeonKingsCasino) in the HKD 100k Short Deck Ante-Only event at #TritonMontenegro2019!

It would be another poker-room king who would take down the first of the many Short Deck events on offer, however, with Macau-based Hong Kong legend Winfred Yu bagging the trophy and title…
Congratulations Winfred Yu , winner of the #TritonMontenegro2019 HKD 100k Short Deck Ante-Only trophy as well as HKD 2.04m (USD $265,200) in winnings !

Jungleman bubbles the Triton Poker NLHE Main Event
Every tournament series has a Main Event, but Triton Poker actually has two! The regular NLHE type and the Short Deck version – both with HKD1million (US$127,000) buy-ins, and both attracting the creme de la crème of the superhighroller world.
Daniel Jungleman Cates has to be on the shortlist of anyone’s top 10 GOAT contenders, but when you get hit by river quads there’s absolutely nothing you can do about it
SAVED BY QUADS!!
Danny Tang was at risk of being eliminated from the HKD 1m NLH Main Event by Jungleman , but was saved on the river by hitting the last 8 in the deck. Incredible.

Jungleman would go on to bubble the money while Chi Hang Danny Tang would go on to secure second spot and his biggest ever cash, Bryn Kenney the only one he couldn’t overcome…
Straight into the flagship Short Deck Main Event and Jetten’s 3rd spot would not be repeated, the vagaries of the 36-card game all too evident, Jetten later bubbling the money
Unbelievable turn of events that can only happen during short deck! Peter Jetten knocked out during the 1m HKD Short Deck Main Event! Quad 10s! Only at The Triton Super High Roller Series #TritonMontenegro2019 pic.twitter.com/tvqFq2jTOf

Rui Cao pips Paul Phua to Short Deck Main Event title
One man who was showing his short deck prowess, though, was co-founder of the Triton Series, Paul Phua. The billionaire businessman seems to have found his true life-calling in poker, and he almost went all the way to grab Malaysia’s first-ever Triton title…
GREAT FOLD! Paul Phua showing why he’s made so many Final Tables!
The #TritonMontenegro2019 HKD 1m Short Deck Main Event Heads Up between Paul Phua and Rui Cao continues

…but was pipped at the post by Chinese-born Frenchman Rui Cao, who lifted the trophy and $3,350,725.
PLO and Invitations
The Triton Poker Super High Roller Series also threw a couple of unexpected events into the mix this time round, with a PLO tournament designed to keep the four-card specialists happy.
There was also a one-day special named the ‘Tim Adams invitational’ added at the behest of the Canadian high-roller to fill the gap wiati9ng for the Main Events to run their course.
The Pot Limit Omaha field may have been small at thirty-seven entries, but there was still a healthy $886,347 waiting to be handed out.
With Ben Lamb and Henrick Hecklen running deep, it seemed as though there might be a familiar name going on the trophy, but Malaysia’s Hing Yaung Chow had other ideas, despite feeling the heat of battle…
Fierce battles requires some refreshments to keep the fight going… in this case it’s facial spray for Chow Hing Yaung in the HKD 200k Pot Limit Omaha battleground!

Lamb would have to settle for second and it transpired that Malaysia’s Maiden Triton victory would not be a Paul Phua win after all…
Tim Adams did his level best to win his own tournament, a HKD250 ($32,000) buy-in NLHE event, but would eventually have to settle for 3rd place and $186,000, with Alex Foxen losing out to Henrik Hecklen for the title…
With three events still to conclude in the high-octane Triton Poker schedule – all of them short deck format – there is almost certainly more thrills and spills to come for the world’s biggest buy-in beasts.
