This means that on top of the starting pot of €10,000 there was sometimes a double straddle of €8,000. €26,000 with a standard opening raise once saw players reach the flop with a €94,000 pot. And that’s without a 3-bet.
Players with stacks of hundreds of thousands of euros were effectively playing less than 70 big blinds deep. This leads to insane aggression as players are incentivised to stack off much lighter than normal.
