Tony G Resigns from Lithuanian Parliament – Announces Return to Poker

Tony G Resigns From Parliament Rather Than Deceive the Public

Poker legend Tony G has resigned from the Lithuanian Parliament leaving poker fans excited at the thought of him returning to poker. The flamboyant character is a TV poker legend and fan favourite, and we would love to see him back in the fold.

Tony G announces his return to poker via his Twitter account

Yesterday Antanas “Tony G “ Guoga announced that he was calling time on his political career. He told his Twitter followers that now it was time to focus on his business interests and maybe some more poker.

The reason given for the change of direction was that he no longer thought he could serve the public in the way he desired.

The Labor Party, who Tony was affiliated with, no longer provides a suitable vehicle for change, in his opinion.

“I’m leaving because I don’t want to mislead these people”

The Baltic Times reported Tony as saying:

“People elected me to the Seimas on the Labor Party’s list. I’m leaving, first of all, because I don’t want to mislead these people. I feel a great responsibility toward them, but at the same time, I see that with the Labor Party it is impossible to deliver what they were promised before the election,”

In what appears to be a stinging jibe at party chairman MEP Viktor Uspaskich, Tony said:

“There are decent, smart and energetic people in the Labor Party. However, they are all held hostage by one individual today,”

Everyone Wants to See Tony G Return to Poker

There’s no doubt that Tony is part of the older generation but very few poker fans wouldn’t want to see him return.

Back in the noughties, when the poker boom was in full swing, Tony G was by far the most popular character seen on poker shows such as High Stakes Poker.

His trash talk skills are legendary, highlighted in many confrontations with Phil Hellmuth over the years.

Even after Tony’s move into politics, he has still racked up some impressive tournament scores according to the Hendon Mob database.

Between 2017 and 2019 he added more than $2 million to his bank balance, which is a tidy sum for a part timer. Every now and then he can also be seen playing high stakes cash games at the Kings Casino, Rozvadov, Czech Republic.

“On your bike!” 🙂

The replies to Tony G’s resignation tweet all sounded excited at the prospect of having him back around. None more so than those itching to him once again squaring up to his old rival Phil Hellmuth.

Any poker TV producers out there should be listening to the crowd when they say there is nothing we would like to see more. Let’s makes this happen.

High stakes live poker is still a long way off so we might have to wait a while to see this. But it will definitely be worth the wait.
