Tony G has gone through a lot in his life.
The 45-year-old Lithuanian poker pro has racked up over $7.2 million in live tournament cashes. He also battled with some of poker’s biggest legends on the classic NBC show Poker After Dark.
Outside the poker table, he’s still representing his home country of Lithuania in the European Parliament. He’s also the founder of the online sportsbook and poker room Tonybet.
Recently, he’s appeared on Triton Poker’s super high stakes live streamed cash game in Montenegro.
That’s a lot for one man’s resume. However, he’s now in a place that may not be in the highlight of his career.
Tony G is in a Fat Camp
Last week, Tony G took to Twitter to share this:
So I made it through day 1 of my water fasting challenge. Only water for another 13 days. Who is going to join me in this challenge? I am at a fat farm with good medical facilities pic.twitter.com/OHHHrraxsU

He’s talking about a two week long water-only fasting “challenge”. It’s unlikely that it would be a prop bet, as Tony G hasn’t mentioned any amount of money wagered with anyone from the poker world.
Moreover, given the fact he’s in a medical facility – a fat camp, if you will – it seems that he’s doing it for health reasons only.
Famed British casino owner and partypoker partner Rob Yong responded to the original tweet with some words of encouragement. In turn, Tony G lamented the fact that he cannot take part in his friend’s home game.
I will be after 14 day fast. Shame I am not playing in your great home game. Will be epic I am sure. I Need some time away on rehab/detox

In that last reply, he also mentions that he’s in “rehab”. That sounds a lot more ominous than a fat camp. Tony G has no known history with drugs – it’s also unlikely he could have been elected MEP as a drug abuser.
However, despite having to skip Yong’s poker party, Tony G did have some home game action recently. He invited Tom Dwan, Phil Ivey and Paul Phua to fly on his private jet to Lithuania to play some high stakes poker in his private game.
These days, however, Tony G is busy with his weight loss. He’s been posting daily updates on his Twitter feed. He’s currently on Day 7.
Up to day 7 of my water fast. It’s going very well. Starting to really enjoy this. Feeling really good. pic.twitter.com/nmvlXQKUPV

Other Fat Poker Players
Tony G has always been a pudgy fellow.
However, if you had polled most poker fans, it’s unlikely they would have picked him as the most likely player to check in a fat camp.
Shaun Deeb, by the looks of it, would be a lot better candidate.
The legendary Texas Dolly, Doyle Brunson’s son Todd Brunson also looks heavier than Tony G. Mike Matusow has been riding a mobility scooter for a few years now. He also had drug problems – perhaps “the Mouth” also could use some time in a rehab and weight loss center.
And let’s not forget about Jaime Staples. In 2018, he won a crazy prop bet against Bill Perkins. He had to get his body weight within 1 pound of his brother, Matt Staple’s weight.
He managed to get down from 304 lbs to 188 lbs and collected his $150,000 reward.
