Tom Dwan has spoken out about how he thinks poker has been mismanaged over the years due to vested interests. The high stakes legend says that a lot of opportunities have been missed that would ultimately have pleased players at all levels of the game.
Honestly about them.
I think there’s a lot of vested interests that have stifled innovation in poker. And I think that makes the game less interesting, pros win less money, fish be less happy… and people overall miss some cool/healthy mental challenges

Tom Dwan Calls Out Industry Insiders for Only Thinking about Themselves
Tom Dwan sounds as if he’s given this subject a lot of thought. It’s not clear just how he thinks the game is less interesting than it could be because Texas Hold’em and PLO in both cash and tournament format are still both incredibly popular.
“So I dunno… this is something that’s tilted me for a while.”
As for vested interests, though, it’s obvious that the likes of David Baazov didn’t care about the game and only wanted short term profit.
Missed Opportunities and a Bright Future for Poker in the US
There’s no doubt that mistakes have been made by those who have wielded the power in poker, but other than the Black Friday travesty we can consider ourselves lucky for the game still to be this popular.
So I dunno… this is something that’s tilted me for a while.
But with us online gaming likely to open in the next few years, and all the shifts that’ll come with that…
I’m trying to do what I can to spur a discussion. I’m sure there’s some spots I’m a bit off.

Dwan is also confident that online gaming in the US is going to enjoy a revival over the next few years.
Although we don’t know any specifics, the scene is definitely set for positive development. The political landscape has, of course, changed during this year.
Sheldon Adelson, the long-time enemy of online gambling, died in January and there looks to be no new figurehead to champion the cause of killing off online casinos and poker in the US. Will Las Vegas finally stop trying to obstruct the online gaming world?
