“Dwan, Dwan, the scamming man” is the cry yet again this week after both Peter Jetten and Haralabos Voulgaris trashed him publicly for unpaid debts. Jetten stated of Dwan: “I’ve never dealt with someone this unethical.”
Imagine owing someone for 12 years, scooping a $3.1m pot right in front of the guy, him offering you a deal where you can make monthly 10-30k a month payments with 0 interest and then ghosting him while flying Private back to whatever rock you crawled out from.

Dwan, once the golden boy of poker with his dashing plays and boyish charm, now stands accused by at least three high-profile players of refusing to pay debts or reneging on deals.
Just two weeks ago he was called out by Jetten who claimed Dwan has owed him $226,000 since 2019, and today Jetten updated the situation:
“After I tweeted about Tom he sent me 30k,” says Jetten, but added ominously: “Things aren’t looking good tho. One of our recent convos went something like this…”
Liar and Scum
Jetten continued: “He says he’ll pay remaining balance in Jeju. I say no I don’t believe you. He says if I don’t I’ll add 25k on top. I say no. He then switches gears and says he doesn’t owe the full amount and that I’m a liar/scum etc.
Jetten concluded: “This is after four years of saying he’d pay full amount soon. He was always civil when I was giving him more time, but when I put my foot down he changed tactics completely. I’ve never dealt with someone this unethical.”
That revelation prompted Haralabos Voulgaris, known affectionately as “Haralabob”, to share his “Dwan the scammer” tale of woe: “Okay my turn @TomDwan. Can we finally get the last 350k that you’ve owed me since 2010. Pretty Please.”
Dwan the Beard
“For those that don’t know the whole story it’s a wild story, happy to share all the details of this thrilling tale of Tom betting hoops (bearding) for me with one of the largest bookmakers in the world and nearly bankrupting him.”
For those who don’t know Haralabos Voulgaris, he is a professional gambler, one of the most successful sportsbettors in history and a keen highstakes cash and tournament poker player.
The “bearding” he refers to is when someone lays bets on behalf of someone else – here Dwan making the bets with Voulgaris’ money because Voulgaris is too well-known as a winning bettor.
Freeroll for Dwan costs Voulgaris a fortune
Voulgaris explains how Dwan scammed him: “To be clear we won high 7 figures, Tom was on a freeroll and earned 25% without any risk.
“Unfortunately, Tom lost $ betting on sports bearding for another group with the same bookmaker and didn’t have the cash to pay me my winnings.
“Through various annoying methods I was able to collect most of it, I’m still owed 350k however.”
That brings us back to Voulgaris’ opening tweet, to which he added: “…our last conversation after the HCL Million Dollar match was me requesting him to pay a small monthly amount at which point he ghosted me.”
Dwan wins $3.1million Pot
That HCL Million Dollar game saw Dwan win the biggest cash game pot in TV poker history, a $3.1million scoop against Wesley “Wes Side” Fei.
However, it appears only Jetten received even the tiniest share of Dwan’s good fortune.
Jungleman Dan Cates has been owed money since the end of the infamous “Durrrr Challenge”, in which he was $1.2million ahead when Black Friday kiboshed the match in 2011.
Cates is still bitter that Dwan hasn’t either resumed the match or paid what he owes, but revealed today…
I’ve found him nearly fucking impossible to deal with. Apparently this isn’t an angle shoot though… Compared to the other stories about him I actually think I’m lucky in comparison to what others have dealt with

With Dwan apparently offering to pay Jetten in Jeju, at the Triton Poker SHR series that kicked off today, it remains to be seen whether Dwan’s buy-ins or his debts are the first thing to be dealt with. The clever money is on the former.
