Thomas Santerne has pulled off the incredible feat of winning three high roller events at the EPT Prague in only one week.
The Frenchman took down the €25,000 Super High Roller Second Chance for a €131,250 payday. And he also came up with the goods in the €20,000 High Roller and the €50,000 Super High Roller.
This latest event only saw 11 participants but there were still some tough players to overcome. Niklas Astedt, Steve O’Dwyer, and Martin Kabrhel were three top players not put off by the small field size and €213,750 is still worth fighting over.
After his historic win, Santerne said:
“Has anyone ever won three trophies in a single EPT festival? The tournament went very well right from the start. I quickly built a solid stack and even had the honor of eliminating Martin Kabrhel. The heads-up went smoothly, and the key hand was ace-king versus ace-six offsuit.”

Amazingly, a second day was needed to determine a winner, even if there was still a late registration period for the whole of Day 1. Seven players returned to the playing hall with Martin Kabrhel and Simone Andrian jumping in at the last minute.
As soon as the payout structure was confirmed, Thomas Santerne began to make his move. Steve O’Dwyer was also trying to gain traction but several all-in moves pre-flop all failed to find a caller.
Eventually, the Irishman went with top pair and was called by Markkos Ladev whose flush draw came in to send his opponent to the rail in eight place.
But no sooner had Ladev chipped up, he was on his way to the cage in seventh place after a hero call went wrong before he was finished off with a standard flip.
Simone Andrian was next to leave. Santerne’s pocket queens coming out on top versus ace-king left the Frenchman with a healthy chip lead.
The players then went for a break and as soon as play restarted it was Teun Mulder heading home after Martin Kabrhel hit a set to beat two pair.
Four-handed with three of them getting paid, we expected some kind of a slowdown in aggression. But we didn’t get to see it as Viacheslav Buldygin committed with a pocket pair which was outdrawn with a runner-runner full house by Santerne.
Kabrhel hadn’t been in the event that long, so no doubt it was nice for him to have locked up a prize of at least €52,000.
Sadly for the Czech high-stakes reg, that was all he got because Santerne came up with another piece of magic to river his second full house in a matter of minutes.
The heads-up part of the match started off with the chip lead passing between the players but it was Derk van Luijk who started to leak chips until he was at risk.
The final hand played out with Van Luijk going with A♦ K♣ and Santerne calling him off with only 8♥ 6♣
The board ran out 4♦ 5♥ 6♠ 3♥ 9♠ and Santerne became the latest EPT champion.
