This is the dramatic story of Lara Gavaldon, who lost an eye and almost died after being attacked by her former husband WSOP Bracelet winner Rudy Gavaldon.

What happened to Lara Gavaldon?

July 29th 2022 should have been one of the happiest days in the life of Lara Gavaldon MIchigan, celebrating her eldest son’s 9th birthday.

The horror story of Lara Gavaldon,

Instead, it turned into a horror story at the hands of the back then Lara Galvadon husband, Rudy Gavaldon.

Rudy Gavaldon, a serial convicted felon, was found wandering the streets at night with his youngest child in his arms claiming he was dying.

However, the truth was he had just launched a brutal drug-fuelled assault on his wife Lara, who had to be treated for life-threatening injuries.

As Lara Gavaldon revealed in a disturbing account of events on Instagram, Rudy took a large amount of psylocibin after she fell asleep. Then, in a psychotic state, he woke her and told her he was dying.

Lara Gavaldon phoned 911, but upon telling her husband that they wouldn’t be sending anyone, he launched his vicious assault, smashing Lara’s face to a pulp.

Lucky enough to somehow survive the sickening and sustained attack, she listed her injuries.

Rudy Gavaldon wins WSOP bracelet while awaiting trial

Incredibly, the former Lara Gavaldon husband Rudy Gavaldon – though charged with attempted murder – was released on bond and almost a year later, still not in jail, played and won a WSOP online bracelet.

He won WSOP.com Michigan online bracelet Event #3: $500 No-Limit Hold’em Turbo 6-Max under the screen-name “Flyheim86”.

And on top of that, almost won a WSOP Circuit ring the previous week, where Rudy Gavaldon finished third for $2,858 in Event #12: $20,000 NLH PKO 6-Max.

However, he was then recalled to prison after failing a drugs test in August of this year and was refused further bail.

Court records filed in Grand Traverse County, Michigan, show he was arraigned on August 1, 2023, for testing positive for opiates.

Although he pleaded not guilty to breaching his bail conditions he was found guilty on August 8th and returned to jail.

Rudy Gavaldon’s lawyer’s request for the bail bond to be reinstated was rejected and Gavaldon is currently being held at the Grand Traverse County Correctional Facility.

His jury trial date has been set for January 9th to 11th 2024.

We wish Lara Gavaldon all the best for her future!
