High Stakes reg Shaun Deeb appears to have lost a prop best against Tony Miles and is now trying to claim a win on a technicality. The tournament star made a $75k bet with Miles, who was runner-up in the 2019 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event, over his upcoming appearance on the NBC TV show American Ninja Warrior.

Shaun Deeb Asks for Sympathy on Social Media After Losing Prop Bet
The pair made the deal back in September 2018 with the terms being stated as:
“Just booked @Storm253 that he can’t get on and advance a round of @ninjawarrior he’s betting 5k to win 25/1 1st year 20/1 2nd 15/1 3rd if completed…”
The disagreement stems over what looks to be an ambiguous interpretation of the rules. The obstacle course has a buzzer at the end which is pressed by the contestants to indicate their competition time. This also indicates that the contestant will move onto the next round of the show.
In the case of Tony Miles, he actually failed to finish the course but still moved onto the following round. This point is why Deeb and Miles are at loggerheads over who is in the right.
Does pressing the buzzer mean a win for Miles or is simply making it through to the next round enough?
The Power of Poker Twitter
Shaun Deeb posted on Twitter a collection of private messages between him and Tony Miles, encouraging his followers to side with him. Typically with poker Twitter the responses were mixed but it definitely looks like Miles has plenty of support here.
The way that Deeb has performed a pure character assassination has riled many people. He even screenshot an email he sent to the show director of American Ninja Warrior disparaging Miles’s character and making allegations about drug taking during the 2018 WSOP Main Event.
Why he would do this two years ago before there was any problem isn’t clear, but it surely leaves a stain on the character of Shaun Deeb.

“I have to air all his dirty laundry since he wants to come after my reputation which means far more to me than this bet he wants to be the white knight when he’s a pathological liar previous scammer and one of the most delusional people I’ve ever come across in poker,“
Tony Miles Responds
Tony Miles responded in a polite manner that wasn’t aggressive at all.
First off he explains how the bet was concocted casually over lunch at a time when the rules for the show were not yet clear to either of them.
The idea over whether or not pressing the buzzer was the only way to win was not mentioned, and in further conversations it looks like advancing to the next round was discussed as the winning play.
Miles posted to his social media that he was trying to remain positive and would, in fact, pay the $5,000 just to not feel that he had wronged somebody.
“He has blocked me on social media and refuses to discuss the matter”
“He has blocked me on social media and refuses to discuss the matter. In the spirit of sportsmanship and in an attempt to remain positive through this amazing experience, I’ve decided to pay him the $5k.“
Definitely a noble gesture given all of the abuse he has received over the last few days.
