Seth Davies has been crowned Super High Roller Bowl IX champion in Northern Cyprus, the US pro scooping a monster $3,206,000 to go with the coveted trophy.
The $302,000 buy-in meant it was a very exclusive field that bought in for the ninth running of the SHRB, only 24 entries, but a $7,056,000 prize pool from which four players would cash for a minimum of $750,000.
The Fall of the King
Former King’s Casino boss Leon Tsoukernik was among the early casualties, although the reputed €300 million+ he made from selling his majority shareholding probably softened the $300k blow.
Phil Ivey was another day one casualty, a brutal river ending his dreams of SHRB success…
That'll make your stomach turn 🤮

Adrian Mateos, in crushing form so far in Kyrenia with a win as well as second, third and fourth-place finishes couldn’t keep the run going, bowing out towards the end of the opening day.
The final table beckons…
Among the 14 returning for day two were Bryn Kenney, Patrik Antonius, and poker’s bad-boy, Martin Kabrhel, though only the flying Finn would get to the final table.
Antonius couldn’t repeat his runner-up finish from the 2018 SHRB China event, though, falling in 7th spot when his flush draw failed to materialize…

On the Bubble…
The money-bubble was worth $750,000 and it came down to a small ace versus a small pocket pair…
Kaladjurdjevic: A♠ 2♣
Maue: 5♠ 5♣
Flop: 6♠ 7♣ 7♦
Turn: J♠
River: 3♣
That meant a relieved Juan Pardo, Seth Davies, Leonard Maue, and Jeremy Ausmus all progressed to the final day with a tidy chunk of cash locked up, but much more still to play for.
The Final Four…
Davies drew first blood when he found pocket jacks to send Maue and his ace-jack to the rail in 4th spot and then Jeremy Ausmus was in the hotseat against Pardo…
Ausmus: K♣ 9♥
Pardo: A♣ 6♠
Flop: K♦ 5♥ A♠
Turn: 3♠
River: 10♥
The consolation for Ausmus was not only a podium place and $1.2million but also top spot in the 2024 PGT leaderboard race, leapfrogging Michael Rocco but those 18 cashes still don’t include an Ausmus victory.
Heads-up wouldn’t last long, Davies extending his lead on the first hand and finishing things off in the second…
