Phil Hellmuth’s archrival Sam Grizzle passes away at 67
Old school poker legend and Phil Hellmuth archrival Sam Grizzle has sadly passed away following a massive stroke at the age of 67.
The poker world has lost another very special character with Sam Grizzle. Only six weeks after Mike Sexton passed away, the next old school poker legend has died.
Sam Grizzle has amassed an impressive 152 cashes including four WSOP final tables for live winnings of $1,354,877.
Unforgotten Sam Grizzle’s rivalry with Phil Hellmuth
But Sam Grizzle was not only a great all around poker player, he was also the archrival of Phil Hellmuth.
Unforgotten is their legendary argument at the World Series of Poker 2003, where they fired shots and kept trash taking each other:
Sam Grizzle was one of the first poker players, who stood up publically to Phil Hellmuth and it was one of the first big rivalries in the history of televised poker in the televised era.
It even got physical and Sam Grizzle beat up on the much taller Phil Hellmuth with the poker brat saying: “It was the only fist fight I was ever in”.
Sam Grizzle also appeared on the most famous Poker TV shows such as Poker After Dark.
