Sam Greenwood Challenges Daniel Negreanu to High-Stakes Heads-Up PLO

Sam Greenwood has challenged Daniel Negreanu to a heads-up PLO battle after the poker legend mocked his play in a Triton event.

Sam Greenwood

Negreanu tweeted about an PLO series from March and was skimming through some televised hands from Triton.

He wrote that he hoped they would be playing as bad as what he observed, picking out a hand in particular that Sam Greenwood played.

It might have taken three weeks for Greenwood to see the tweet from his fellow Canadian but he was clearly a bit wound up at the slight.

After all, it’s not common to see the game’s very best players firing shade at one another over how they played a particular hand.

Greenwood fired back that he has probably played approximately 5,000 hands of PLO in his life, admitting that he isn’t a great player.

He said that he plays MTTs because they’re fun and the format plays to his strengths, unlike PLO.

However, given his obvious annoyance, he offered to not only play PLO with Daniel Negreanu but also in heads-up format!

Could we really see this happen? We hope so.

Remember when Doug Polk and Negreanu were at each other’s throats and the Upswing Poker founder goaded his nemesis into accepting a grudge match in his favoured format.

If enough poker fans get into the thread and pump up the situation we might get what we want.
