Rounders Star Edward Norton Says to President Trump: “You Are the Worm”

Edward Norton has ripped into outgoing US president Donald Trump using poker terms and calling him the worm. The Rounders star was cast as Worm in the classic poker movie and told the polarizing politician he was a terrible poker player.

Edward Norton Lays into Trump’s Poker Strategy

Edward Norton looks far from impressed with the incumbent president. A seven tweet rant about Donald Trump’s behavior over his attempt to prevent a smooth transition of power through the courts really hit home.

The analogy was that of a failed poker hand—a bluff gone wrong, or one that was pushed too hard by a player who didn’t know when he was beat. Actually, it is probably more accurate that Trump knows he is beat, but just can’t bring himself to fold.

We’ve all met poker players whose egos ride roughshod over their ability to make rational decisions. And this looks like a classic case.

Norton began his thread by saying,

“I’m no political pundit but I grew up w a dad who was a federal prosecutor & he taught me a lot & I’ve also sat a fair amount of poker w serious players & l’ll say this: I do not think Trump is trying to ‘make his base happy’ or ‘laying the groundwork for his own network’…”

Edward Norton Says the US Must Call Trump’s Bluff

Norton continues with an explanation of how Trump is only really buying time for evidence suppression.

He also thinks that we haven’t seen the end of this “poker hand”, and there could be more unpleasantness to come.

“His ‘turn card’ bluff will be an escalation & his ‘River card’ bluff could be really ugly. But they have to be called.”

Norton was clearly fired up with emotion as he typed these tweets out.

“I will allow that he’s also a whiny, sulky, petulant, Grinchy, vindictive little 10-ply-super-soft bitch who no doubt is just throwing a wicked pout fest & trying to give a tiny-hand middle finger to the whole country for pure spite,”

The gambling community will be watching this story with interest. The US presidential election broke records for betting around the world this year. And bookmakers have still not paid out what they owe.

Could Trump still steal victory with a well-timed river bluff here? There will be a lot of happy punters if he can, even if Ed Norton will be far from happy.

Rounders 2 in the Pipeline?

The poker community is still hoping that Rounders 2 will be made. Now 22 years since the classic poker movie hit our screens and there are still no signs that we will ever get to see the next adventures of Mike McDermott and Lester “Worm” Murphy.

Four years ago, Matt Damon, who played McDermott, speculated about possible plots for a second movie, but now thinks that it will never be made.

The DVD market has all but vanished due to the rise of streaming services such as Netflix. Now it’s all box office major hits alongside movies that must be understandable across different cultures with subtitles.

Fingers crossed that something does change in the coming years. Norton and Damon are not getting any younger and there isn’t much time left before the movie will be set aside for good.
