He may be the highest-earning poker player on the WSOP Circuit but Maurice Hawkins has been called out yet again for not paying his debts – this time a 6-figure sum he has owed for 5 years…

Maurice Hawkins has more than $5.2million in tournament winnings and can boast 15 WSOP Circuit wins, only recently losing the top spot to Ari Engel.
However, his obvious poker skill aside, it is his seedier side that often hits the headlines.
“He hasn’t even made an effort to pay me back $1 a month”
“RanMan”, aka poker staker Randy Garcia, tweeted:
“He walks around the casino like a hot shot yet begged me for money for his families bills when I was backing him. He hasn’t even made an effort to pay me back $1 a month. He should be banned from all poker because he is a scammer broke bum.”
Garcia is incensed that Hawkins hasn’t paid up despite winning a court judgment against him for $115,000.
That despite Maurice Hawkins cashing for more than $500,000 last year alone, including a $280,100 deep run in the WSOP main Event.
This week saw Hawkins add another $178,870 to that tally with a 3rd-place finish in the WSOPC Cherokee Main Event, which seems to have prompted Garcia’s tirade against the serial scammer.

Hawkins has never denied owing the money, responding ““I will pay him when I can,” when asked last year about his debt. However, it’s far from the first or only money he owes in the poker community.
A year before the Garcia debt and court case, a South Florida lawyer who had staked Hawkins also filed a legal suit against him.
Hal Lewis posted on the 2+2 poker forum: “ I wanted to let the poker community know how much of a scumbag Maurice Hawkins is.”
Revealing that he entered a 50/50 staking deal with Hawkins, he soon had to resort to legal means to get the $22,788 Hawkins owed.
Lewis described Hawkins as “a piece of **** and just an awful, awful human being,” advising fellow poker players to “never loan this guy a dime.”
In the meantime, Randy Garcia is looking to lawyer up…
