Mike Matusow and several other poker pros have fired shots at the WSOP Main Event organisers over a ruling that allows late reg with a reduced starting chip stack. He claims that it is unfair and makes a mockery of the greatest poker tournament in history.
Mike Matusow Blasts WSOP on Twitter over Main Event Rules
Wow registration is closed, are you sure? Maybe buy in tomorrow night right before the money bubble! #sham #fuckmaxlatereg https://t.co/81ifw4OP1Z

Typically, Matusow’s haters came straight out and accused him of being a cry baby, no less, for simply stating what many feel is true: this is vandalism of poker’s showpiece event for the year.
I’m cry baby cause they’ve taken greatest poker tourney in history and let people register on day 2 4 hrs in with 50 bb with half field out! Ok ty
Oh and day 2 chip leader with 798 k started day with 17 k! https://t.co/JXV8G1UNQ8— Mike Matusow (@themouthmatusow) November 11, 2021
The shouts of how it’s the same for everyone and if he feels so strongly about it then he can register himself on Day 2 are missing the point.
Half field is out yet @wsop let’s player reg today with 75 bb let that sink it everyone! In 4 days ave stack will be 40 bb . Total disgrace on the integrity of our game! #fixit and if you think that’s ok just look at chip leader who had 17 k starting day 2!

Shaun Deeb, Daniel Negreanu, and Mike Matusow Argue Over Late Reg
This same argument came up when Shaun Deeb tweeted that he was considering entering the $100k high roller. He admitted that he might not be +EV in the field and thinks that a late entry strategy might be sensible.
Mike Matusow pounced and started a fight with Daniel Negreanu over whether or not entering late benefits losing players.
He said he doesn’t think he is +EV.
If you are a pro with +EV then your ROI is higher if you start on time.
Losing players benefit by showing up late.
Shaun thinks he may be losing in this field.
How is this common sense stuff so impossible for you?

Not “Chainsaw Approved”
It’s not just the late entry rule that is causing consternation for many players, particularly Twitter favourite Allen Kessler.
The pay-out jump between 10th and 9th is almost double, which for entry into the WSOP Main Event final table does makes at least some sense.
