In our Poker Hand of the Week we analyze the sickest hand of 2023 so far between the probably best poker player among YouTube Vloggers Mariano and LA high stakes legend Andy Stacks at Hustler Casino Live.
Poker Hand of the Week Setup
This spectacular poker hand was played in the $100/$200/$400 No-Limit Hold’em super high stakes game at Hustler Casino Live, which featured Nik Airball, Wesley, Andy Stacks and rising poker star Mariano.
Andy has Mariano covered at the start of our Poker Hand of the Week and both are very deep with the effective stack size being 751 big blinds.
Poker Hand of the Week Action
Preflop:
Mariano raises under the gun to $500 with K♦10♦ before Charles 3-bets to $2,000 with 8♥7♥ on the button.
Andy Stacks calls from the big blind with A♦4♦ and Mariano decides to make a play by 4-betting to $9,000, but both Charles and Andy call. And just like that there is a whopping $27,300 in the pot preflop.
Flop:
Three-way to the absolute cooler flop of 9♦J♦Q♦, which not only gives Mariano a Straight Flush, but also Andy the Nut Flush. It checks through. Pot Size: $27,300
Turn:
The 3♥ on the turn is a blank. They check again to Mariano, who has to start betting now, which he does with $8,000. Andy now check-raises to $35,000, Charles gets out of the way and Mariano calls with the absolute Nuts. Pot Size: $97,000
River:
A fourth diamond with the 6♦ appears on the river. Andy leads for $120,000 and Mariano shoves All-in for $257,200 total.
Andy snap-calls with the Second Nuts and couldn’t believe his eyes, when Mariano turned over the flopped Straight Flush causing an “Oh My God” from the table. Andy shakes his head, while Mariano wins one of the biggest pots of his poker career worth a whopping $611,300.
Poker Hand of the Week Analysis
Let’s go through this sick hand street by street.
The foundation for this massive pot is already laid preflop, when Mariano gets in a fourth bet and Andy both Andy with Ad4d and Charles with 8h7h decide to call it.
Once the flop appears and Mariano flops the Straight Flush over Andy’s Nut Flush the hand plays itself and there is not much we need to analyze here. Both of them setting the trap by checking.
On the turn it checks again to Mariano and he has to bet now to build the pot. He chooses a small 29% pot sizing. Andy obviously thinks he has the best hand with the Second Nuts and makes a large 4.5x check-raise, which Mariano calls.
Please Note that raising the turn would be a big mistake as Mariano’s hand is so strong that you don’t want to scare away your opponent in case he is bluffing.
The only thing that could save Andy from getting stacked now is if the board pairs. That doesn’t happen though and he decides to make a large $120,000 overbet.
Mariano has $257K behind and only one option here, which is All-In. Stacks understandably snap-calls with the flopped Second Nuts and can’t believe his bad luck, when he sees that his opponent has the one single hand that beats him.
Poker Hand of the Week Conclusion
This is definitely the worst cooler poker hand of 2023 and there is absolutely no escaping getting stacked here.
This is simply incredibly unlucky for Andy Stacks., while Mariano continues his sun run at Hustler Casino Live.
He is now already the second largest winner of all time on the show, behind cash game legend Garrett Adelstein, with a staggering $1,324,790 profit.
