Poker Hand of the Week Action

Preflop:

Alan Keating straddles to $1,600. It folds around to J.R. in the big blind, who calls with J♣8♦. Keating then pops it up from the straddle to $6,600 and J.R. decides to see a flop. Pot Size: $14,200

Flop:

The flop of Q♣8♣7♥ is pretty interesting as both players have a piece of it. Alan flops an Open Ended Straight Draw, while J.R. has middle pair.

The latter checks and Keating makes a large $10,000 continuation bet. J.R. check-calls. Pot Size: $34,200

Turn:

The 3♦ on the turn is a blank, but it didn’t stop Alan Keating from firing a $35,000 second barrel after checking checked to again. However, J.R. is a non-believer and calls again. Pot Size: $104,000

River:

The J♥ on the river is the absolute money card for Keating as it gives him the Nuts and if he knows it he overbet shoves for more than 3x pot size!

J.R. goes very deep into the tank and after almost three minutes flicks in the call. Alan Keating turns over the Nuts and wins the biggest pot in Hustler Casino Live history worth $749,000.

Poker Hand of the Week Analysis

Super interesting and very spectacular hand! Let’s go through it step by step.

Preflop J.R. decides to pick up the dead money by raising J8o from the small blind. Keating aggressively defends his straddle with a large 3-bet, but J.R. sticks around.

The river is the most interesting card in the deck, since it gives Keating the Nuts and J.R. a well-disguised Two Pair.

And now Alan Keating makes a genius move. He overbet shoves for more than 3x pot heavily polarizing his hand to the Nuts or Nothing.

J.R. tanks for almost three minutes, doesn’t believe Alan and calls this huge overbet to create the biggest pot in Hustler Casino Live history. However, he is at the losing end of it as Keating adds an incredible $749K to his stack.

Poker Hand of the Week Conclusion

Amazing read and overbet by Alan Keating!

Metagame plays a big role in this fantastic poker hand. Keating knows that he has a very lose image and that J.R. likes to make big calls.

He beautifully uses that to his advantage by making a massive 3x overbet and managing to extract the absolute maximum with the Nuts.

Very well played!
