Phil Hellmuth has done it again! The Poker Brat won his 17th WSOP Bracelet, extending his record into territory that might never be reached again. Hellmuth was victorious in Event #72: $10,000 Super Turbo Bounty, banking $803,818 plus bounties.

This is a candidate for the best live tournament record in history, stretching all the way back to 1989 when Phil Hellmuth defeated Johnny Chan to become the youngest WSOP Main Event winner of all time.
The question is; can anybody else even come close in the years to come?
The players closest to Phil Hellmuth’s record are Doyle Brunson, Johnny Chan, and Phil Ivey with 10 bracelets each.
Having lost Texas Dolly recently and with Johnny Chan not mounting much of a challenge these days, that leaves only Phil Ivey.
Could the man many consider the G.O.A.T step up and take Phil Hellmuth’s WSOP record?
Phil Ivey Finishes 6th for $133,461
Phil Ivey finished in sixth place in Event #72: $10,000 Super Turbo Bounty, coming close to challenging Phil Hellmuth for the victory.
The $133,461 prize won’t have much significance in how Ivey feels, rather it will be nice to be coming to close to that elusive 11th bracelet.
If Ivey doesn’t win a bracelet during the rest of the 2023 WSOP, it will be a decade since he won his last one before he can challenge again. This will make Phil Hellmuth’s record all the more unbeatable with no more serious challengers waiting in the wings.
