Phil Hellmuth has tested positive for COVID-19 at the 2022 WSOP. The “Poker Brat” posted a tweet lamenting the missed opportunity for what he considers his best chance of a record 17th bracelet – the $10k Omaha 8 or better.

Hellmuth wrote that his symptoms are minimal with no cough, a little brain fog and a lack of hunger being the worst of it.
Not ideal, for sure, but at least he will be fit enough to play soon enough.
Phil Hellmuth’s WSOP Derailed by Illness
Phil Hellmuth is already the most successful player in World Series of Poker but that has never stopped him from pushing for more victories.
The Wisconsin man is famous for playing a punishing schedule every year and was aiming for multiple bracelets and a Player of the year challenge this summer. Now, it seems that has been derailed.

On only the second day of the series, Phil Hellmuth was forced to abandon his plan for Event #2: $100,000 High Roller Bounty due to an upset stomach after travelling from Mexico.
Now, it is uncertain how long his recovery from COVID-19 will take and how many days he will be forced to sit out regardless of a negative test.
At least it’s still early days for the WSOP and we can expect Phil Hellmuth to return to action in good time when the most prestigious events are scheduled to run.
