Phil Hellmuth Reclaims His Crown and Goes 8/9 in the High Stakes Duel
Hellmuth collected the $400,000 prize and now waits to see if Tom Dwan will take the rematch for double stakes at $800,000.
The first hour of the match was a cagey affair with little in the way of big pots won. There was a bunch of all-ins along the way but none were called.
The “Poker Brat” was bullish in the pre-match interviews, claiming to have won more than $1.5 million online during the pandemic.
The commentators noted that his smallball style and the slow structure would suit him more than his hyper-aggressive opponent.

Best Phil Hellmuth Fold Ever?
Tom Dwan did manage to pull back some of the deficit and then must have thought he was about to win a huge pot until Phil Hellmuth pulled off the best fold of the night with an inferior full house.
Wow! Is this the best @Phil_Hellmuth fold you’ve ever seen?

The match came to an end when Hellmuth was already sat with close to a five to one advantage. Dwan held pocket eights and had an easy decision but so did Phil Hellmuth with his ace-king.
A king came on the flop and no further help for Dwan made Phil Hellmuth once again the reigning champion of the High Stakes Duel format.
We look forward to seeing the rematch if it happens.
