Phil Hellmuth Takes Back Offer to Buy-in for $300,000 on Live Streams After Getting Crushed

Phil Hellmuth is going back on his pledge to buy in for $300,000 of his own money in televised cash games. After suffering huge losses on Hustler Casino Live and Live at the Bike, he decided that he didn’t have the stomach for it after all.

Phil Hellmuth Refuses to Play Deep-Stacked Cash Games After Huge Losses

Phil Hellmuth says in the future he will buy in for whatever he chooses and reserves the option to sell action.

The key hand that apparently tipped the Poker Brat over the edge was a $140,000 loss with pocket kings last Monday on Live at the Bike. Hellmuth’s net worth is of such that this shouldn’t bother him in the slightest so we can only assume that it’s a mental issue.

Daniel Negreanu Makes Fun of Hellmuth

Daniel Negreanu was quick to chime in with his own thoughts, unable to resist poking a little fun at Phil Hellmuth.

He reminded him that his short stint playing a 12 big blind stack in a televised cash game was terrible for the game, pointing out that the stream dropped to only 500 viewers while a rival show had more than 17,000 at the same time.

Of course, Hellmuth was his usual prickly, sensitive self and took offence to any mild criticism.

Matt Berkey also had a row with Phil Hellmuth after highlighting that his claim of winning 30 out of 32 sessions is meaningless if the win rate is so small that it gets wiped out by two heavy losses.

Phil Hellmuth argued that he is up more than a million dollars to date from televised cash games.
