Galfond Challenge – Phil Galfond on the verge of the biggest comeback in poker history!

Can Phil Galfond make the biggest comeback in poker history?

What seemed impossible only two weeks ago, when Phil Galfond took a break and even considered quitting as he was down almost €1,000,000, is now reality! Galfond has staged an incredible comeback in the Galfond Challenge by winning 10 out of the last 13 sessions and reducing his minus from almost €1 Million to only €318,895,43 with more than enough hands left to play!

Phil’s decision to take a break and go into the lab has turned out to be absolutely genius as he has won almost every session since that.

He has reduced his minus by more than €600,000 from almost €1,000,000 to only €318,895,43 and there are still 7,449 hands to play, which is more than enough time for Galfond to win this thing, especially if VeniVidi1993 continues to lose at the rate he has been in the last sessions.

While Galfond with the words of Luke Schwartz “Got his ass handed to someone everyday, who is 5 years and 14 solvers better than him”, the tide has now completely turned as VeniVidi1993 rage quit the last session, while being down more than  €140,000 and now demands a break himself:

The action is heating up in the Galfond Challenge

Not only Phil got significantly better making less mistakes, but also the action did.

We saw several pots above the €40,000 mark, some great calls by Galfond and a few very questionable plays by VeniVidi such as here:

VeniVidi1993 rage quits and takes a break!

As you can see above, VeniVidi rage quitted the last session, It is the first time in this challenge this has happened. In addition to that, there were a few situations, where it seemed like VeniVidi1993 is on tilt.

Afterwards, he demanded a break of a couple of days, probably with the aim to do some hand analysis and work on his game and to try to bring his lead over the finish line as the winners gets an additional €200,000.
