Patrik Antonius is having some busy days these times. He’s launching his poker app and having his own poker tournament series in Tallin.
Patrik Antonius has had a very unique career path. The Finnish man started off as a professional tennis player, had to quit due to an injury, then became a male model. That is until he found poker – he won his first ever tournament he competed in. Now, however, he is dabbling in app developing.
The FLOP (First Land of Poker) App
Antonius announced that he’s been working on a social media app geared towards people in the poker industry specifically. He hasn’t revealed much information about it yet, but he claims it’ll do things for poker players that Instagram or Facebook couldn’t do. The Beta version will be tested during the first Patrik Antonius Poker Challenge.
The new app is called First Land of Poker, or FLOP, for short. Although it’s not available in the App Store or the Google Play store, evidently, their Facebook page is live already. They are currently at a modest 152 likes. Their latest post is promoting the first ever PAPC.

Antonius says that he feels poker is not as fun as it used to be and that’s what eh’s trying to help with his new app. As he said it to PokerNews: “The game has been stale way too long. I want to do the best things.”
The Patrik Antonius Poker Challenge
We mentioned the Antonius’ “poker challenge” a few times above. It’s a new tournament series and cash game festival that is being held between April 1st and April 7th at the Hilton Tallinn Park Hotel and the Olympic Park Casino in Tallinn, Estonia. There’s a total of 52 events on the schedule, while live streamed cash games will be running concurrently. The biggest buy-in tournament is the €25,000 High Roller.
Here’s the eponymous ambassador promoting the event with online poker great Daniel “Jungleman” Cates on his Instagram. According to the post, Cates will be playing in some of the cash games that will be broadcast online.
The Advanced Shot Clock
Antonius also has a new ideas to implement into the tournament play in the inaugural PACP. They will introduce the so-called advanced shot clock.
Shot clocks force players to take action in a certain amount of time – much like the timer you see on the table display in online poker rooms. Antoinus’ shot clock, however, will give you less time pre-flop and more time after the flop. Also, the time players have to ac will be shorter – it’s usually 30 seconds – but they will have more time extension chips than usual. This is so that players won’t abuse the shot clock and take 30 seconds to decide on every single move.
This change is in the same vein as Antonius’ new app. Its goal is to make poker more fun again.
As for the broadcast of the live cash games, Antonius tries to enhance the viewer experience as well. He wants to make sure the audience knows the players at the table so they can pick someone to root for. He wants to do that through interviews – like they used to do on High Stakes Poker on the Game Show Network back in the day.
