It’s very rare that a poker player makes a Royal Flush at the tables but imagine making two in twenty minutes! That’s exactly what happened to Patrick Leonard during the WCOOP.
WCOOP DAY 75?? We’re limping on $2k final tables and flopping royal flushes. What a time to be alive. pic.twitter.com/E207l5dY2i

And then only 20 minutes later it happened again. And he got paid, too!
WTF?? Got this 20 minutes later. The guy was bluffing QJ too and went all in on river too haha https://t.co/z1Lz0jRP3K pic.twitter.com/KRWSvzECYq

The odds of flopping a royal flush in Texas Hold’em are a whopping 1/649,740. So, even for a high-volume online player, they are only looking at one or two per year.
But what about live players? A high-volume pro playing for 10 hours per day on 300 days of the year might hit a royal flush around only once every eight years.
In fact, Mike Matusow replied to Patrick Leonard’s tweet to say he had only had three in his entire career.
Absurd lol I’ve only made 3 royals in 27 yrs in holdem you made 2 in 20 min! Go buy a lottery ticket lol! https://t.co/1H4clDyCUN

Let’s see if Patrick Leonard’s luck continues . Matusow said he should get out and buy a lottery ticket the way things are going and so he said he will—100 of them, and he’ll split the payouts 50/50 for suggesting it.
High stakes players are built differently if they can win big on the lottery and give away half. But then again, we knew that anyway, didn’t we?
