Ognyan Dimov has won his second EPT title, to add to his clean sweep of victories in all the major live series.
The Bulgarian high-stakes reg has wins in the World Series of Poker, Triton Super High Roller Series, World Poker Tour and the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure.
He banked $253,876 after defeating Kayhan Mokri to top the 47-player field which was full of big names fighting over a prize pool of $902,776.
Dimov is now firmly established among the high roller scene after winning multiple events against some of the best poker has to offer.
Action Recap
Ren Lin was the first casualty of the final table. He was unfortunate to run into trips when his shove on the flop with two pair was likely to be best.
Markkos Ladev found himself all-in only a few hands later, no doubt feeling confident with his pocket queens.
Aleksejs Ponakovs, fresh from yesterday’s runner-up finish in the $10,200 Mystery Bounty, only had ace-eight but an ace on the flop sent Ladev home to leave only four players left.
The Latvian then gave most of those chips away to Dimov whose pocket aces did the trick. The Bulgarian then doubled up again to lead the way.
Mokri then dealt with Juan Pardo in a flip that saw pocket sevens beat ace-eight.
Minutes later, Ponakovs was forced to take a shot with ten-seven while short stacked. Dimov snapped him off with king-eight and dodged any help for the Latvian who picked up a podium finish and $139,900 for his efforts.
Mokri had a slim advantage of 2.5M to the 2.2M of Dimov when heads-up play began, but the rail was robbed of any kind of spectacle when they both agreed to just chop it up based on the stack size.
They didn’t even leave anything behind for a taster of a battle, opting instead to simply flip for the title and trophy.
Mokri ended up with only eight-high while Dimov was lucky enough to look down at ace-high which was enough to give him his first EPT trophy in nine long years since his triumph in the Main Event at EPT Deauville.
