Football star Neymar has stunned his fans by losing €1,000,000 ($1,086,909) in less than one hour playing online poker. The Brazilian was streaming a variety of online games on his Twitch channel and shocked his viewers by fake crying after losing the insane amount of money.
PSG Star Neymar Loses €1 Million Playing Online Poker
The hit isn’t likely to bother the 31-year-old too much as he is reported to earn almost €3.8 million per month—a whopping €45 million+ per year.
It isn’t known exactly what game the Neymar was playing in to lose such an amount in only one hour, but we know that the footballer is always keen to get in on the highest stakes action possible no matter where he is playing.
After dumping the million euros, Neymar said:
“Oh fuck, I’m going to put this on YouTube.” One of his viewers cheekily wrote in the chat: “You went from a million to zero in 60 minutes.”
Neymar Faces Criticism for Degenerate Behaviour On-Screen
It didn’t take long after this story broke for anti-gambling comments to surface. Twitch Poker recently banned a list of websites that were being used to stream a variety of casino games after a spate of degenerate behaviour.
There were some accusations that Neymar lost the €1 million deliberately as a social media marketing stunt.
Top Twitch streamer xQc accused the platform of applying double standards by allowing Neymar to stream all kinds of gambling on a site that is not banned but is very similar to those which are.
“This seems like pick and choose bullshit. I don’t want to be some anti-Twitch bandwagoner, but this is some pretty big pick and choose dogshit based on the current outrage situation to feed the morons.”
This seems kind of hypocritical from xQc as he lost a highly publicised $650,000 bet on the FIFA World Cup final in December and there was no mention of him being a degenerate gambler.
“When I’m not playing soccer, I love playing cards”
As for Neymar, his passion for poker is showing no signs of slowing down. Recently he said:
“When I’m not playing soccer, I love playing cards. Competing with my friends is a huge passion of mine, I love the sense of community, the fun, and the unpredictable moments that can occur in any game.”
We look forward to seeing the football star at some of the upcoming major live poker series, possibly the World Series of Poker which starts next month.
