Neymar Gets Kicked Out by Security at the WSOP

Taking full advantage of the European football off-season, Neymar has been enjoying life at the 2022 World Series of Poker. The Brazilian forward last week made his playing debut at the festival and is having a blast so far, recently scoring his first WSOP cash.

Football Star Neymar Jr Accosted by Security at 2022 WSOP

It hasn’t been all plain sailing so far for the 30-year-old because he was lucky not to get removed from the playing hall by security after an identity mix-up.

During Event #41: $1,000 Super Turbo Bounty No-Limit Hold’em, spectators were asked to vacate the playing hall and players were requested to remain in their seats while the size of the field was confirmed.

Neymar didn’t get the memo and decided to stretch his legs and chat to three friends on the rail after racking up his first cash at the most prestigious series in poker.

While chewing the fat with Andre Akkari and two others, a security guard approached and asked the trio to leave the area. Neymar protested that he was playing, the security guard having no idea who he was talking to.

Fortunately, Neymar was able to return to his seat in time for the P.A. system announcement that the remaining players had indeed cashed. He eventually finished in 49th place out of 2,227 entries for $3,959 in prize money.

Neymar Loving High-Stakes Cash Game Action in Las Vegas

Neymar has spoken several times about his passion for poker and desire to become a professional once his football playing days are over.

Now representing PokerStars as a cultural ambassador, he is taking every opportunity to play whenever his schedule allows.

Only last week, after busting out of his debut WSOP tournament, he was spotted playing a $10/$25 cash game which is essentially microstakes for a man earning a reported $700K per week.

This shows an incredible love for the game and desire to play whatever.

It clearly wasn’t enough of a buzz though because a couple of days ago he was spotted chasing proper high-stakes action down at the Aria where camera-holding onlookers filmed him hitting a straight flush.

Unfortunately, we can’t see how big the pot was.

We look forward to seeing if Neymar can add to his first WSOP cash and if he will be chancing his luck in any of the upcoming high roller events.
