Mike Matusow has bet half of his $20,000 bankroll on a Daniel Negreanu victory in his highly-anticipated grudge match with Doug Polk, due to kick off in less than a week (and which will be live-streamed here on VIP-Grinders).
The $10,000 wager by Mike the Mouth would see him win $40k, but although the 4:1 odds are attractive, he’s banking on DNegs – or Donald Trump! – to save his skin.

Old-school legend Mike Matusow, having already bet $5k on a Trump victory in the ongoing Presidential elections, wasn’t the only one to back ‘old-timer’ Kid Poker against Polk.
Phil Hellmuth took advantage of the 4:1 price to plant a $15,000 chunk of change on his old friend, helping out his buddy Mike along the way with a podcast appearance…

Although Matusow’s finances appear stretched to the limit, big Phil is on a huge freeroll for the foreseeable future having taken a whopping $350,000 from Antonio ‘The Magician’ Esfandiari in their recent high stakes heads-up triple-header.
Hellmuth won the $50k opener, the $100k rematch, and a $200k finale, finally stepping aside to allow someone else to take up the challenge.
Back to Mike Matusow’s potentially bankroll-busting bet on DNegs, and it wasn’t only the fans who were pulling faces at the dicey wager – Polk first up with a two-stroke Twitter jab…

A huge sidebet
With the duelling duo putting up at least $1million each, the side-betting on the match could easily run into seven-figures as well. Although Polk made it clear what he thinks poker fans are really betting on.
“The bottom line is, you aren’t really betting on me/my ability,” he tweeted, adding:“I will be a very good hunl player, not world-class anymore, but very solid. You are betting on how good you think Dnegs can be at an extremely challenging and complicated game.”
Not that everyone is betting huge amounts, or even with traditional currency, as one Negreanu fan, Greg Solano, shared:
“My bets in for @RealKidPoker. It’s a little smaller than yours @themouthmatusow. But I can’t wait to spend it on my next tournament buy in!”
The match itself, a 25k hands HeadsUp No Limit battle at stakes of $200/$400 playing out on WSOP.com, was in doubt for a long time, Polk unhappy about how difficult it was to deal with Negreanu. With all the details finally settled, however, fans of the game are in for a treat.
