If you thought the WSOP Player of the Year disaster story was over, then think again. Mike The Mouth Matusow today launched a blistering attack on Doug Polk, calling him a ‘scumbag lowlife’ who creates ‘lying bullshit poker content.
I already knew you were a scumbag lowlife, but you should never be allowed to play poker in a poker room again or create lying bullshit poker content just to make yourself look good! #scumbagDoug https://t.co/FBaaHHBSIx

The drama that we covered in detail here and here last week saw Negreanu toppled by Robert Campbell in the Player of the Year race after a serious discrepancy was found in the points awarded for an event in Vegas this summer.
That ‘data entry’ error, Polk claimed, could not have gone unnoticed by Negreanu. Shaun Deeb also accused the former PokerStars ambassador of knowingly trying to cheat his way to the WSOP accolade.
Two things Its amazing Daniel wouldn’t bet on me with poy cuz he was afraid I would cheat when he’s the one caught trying to cheat. Second the only acceptable move from @WSOP is co poy with me and @SonicJaxx2019

The majority of the poker community has sided with Negreanu. Including Campbell himself who tweeted ‘I for one completely refute the idea @RealKidPoker knew.’
Polk and Deeb, however, have long-standing feuds with Negreanu. Therefore they were never likely to let this situation pass without comment.
Deeb took to the Joe Ingram podcast to vent his thoughts on just what DNegs may or may not have known.
For Matusow, however, it seems that Polk’s public accusations were just too much. ‘Mike the Mouth’ followed up with another brutal attack…
Polk quickly hit back at Matusow, ridiculing his interviewing technique – or lack of it – from last month’s Mouthpiece podcast that featured alleged cheater Mike Postle…
You're right Mike, I just use my content to make myself look good, instead of using it for hard hitting journalism.
Anyway when's your next Mike Postle interview? https://t.co/nEk3Io83AW

Negreanu was appearing on a podcast of his own, explaining on the DAT Poker Podcast of his WSOP PoY hunt: “I do this because I enjoy it and I do it because I want to win it fair and square”.
Negreanu had already given his version of events on his Full Contact Poker blog. He stated: ‘It’s an unfortunate situation, but mistakes happen and life goes on.
DNegs added: ‘I’m genuinely happy for Robert Campbell because I know how much it meant to him and I also feel he was deserving, having won two bracelets this year. He is also a nice guy who helps.’
The Canadian poker legend also outlined his views on how to fix the beleaguered WSOP Player of the Year race, which was already under intense fire before the drama of last week.
With Matusow’s latest Twitter broadside stirring up the Negreanu-debate once again, however, it may be a while before the focus returns to what constitutes the best system to decide the title.
So far, the only person to come out of this debacle with flying colors appears to be the worthy 2019 winner, Robert Campbell.
