German high stakes player Manig Löser has won an auction to get in the ring with Mike Tyson. The German poker star is one of the best players on the planet with more than $11 million in winnings, so clearly a smart guy, but has he made a bad decision he’ll regret?

Manig Löser pays $23,568 to face the baddest man on the planet
We wonder if Manig Löser was thinking straight when he came across a charity auction to have lunch with Mike Tyson and then spar some rounds with him.
The Baddest Man on the Planet still has a fearsome reputation and will no doubt give Loeser a few sleepless nights in the run up to this meeting.
The auction was run in support of the Harold and Carole Pump Foundation and Cancer Research, so we commend Loeser’s spirit in taking on something that most of us would dream of doing.
One of his Twitter followers described clearly how he felt when he met Tyson some years ago.
“I met him as a sponsor of boxing back in 2005 and he scared the shit out of me. Hopefully he’s mellowed a bit now! Awesome fighter before the rails fell off…. have fun”

Noble Gesture for Charity
According to Manig Löser’s Instagram post he won the auction with the highest bid out of 19 placed. He paid $23,568 for the 2–3-hour meeting with 54-year-old Tyson that includes lunch, autograph signing, and a training session where he gets to keep the signed gloves.
We have no idea if Manig Löser is in shape to do any kind of fighting, let alone some light sparring with the youngest heavyweight world champion of all-time.

Mike Tyson is actually very good shape these days, on the back of a great exhibition fight against fellow all-time great Roy Jones Jnr. The Brooklyn native was arguably the better man, but the judges decided a draw was the right result.
It’s 24 years since Tyson famously bit off Evander Holyfield’s ear during their second fight, hopefully for Manig Loeser he’s chilled out a little since then.
