Lautaro Guerra has taken down Spain’s second consecutive PLO event at Triton Jeju after overcoming an incredibly strong final table.

Guerra topped the field in Event #17 – $30,000 PLO Bounty Quattro to claim a winner’s prize of $783,000 including $280,000 in bounty payments.
Victory came less than 15 hours after Sergio Martinez won the PLO Main Event, and notably, as was pointed out in Jeju, Tom Bedell who won the first PLO event in Jeju is also a Madrid resident.
Hat trick for Spain! When asked why this was so, Guerra said:
“There are many other nationalities that are doing well. We are just one more. We’re having a good time.”
The event saw 100 entries build a prize pool of $3,000,000 — all paid out to the top 17 finishers.
Action Recap
The numbers worked out nice and clean for the tournament with $2 million going into the main prize pool and $1 million set aside for bounties which would kick in when 25 players were left.
With 18 left and 17 getting paid, Paul Phua made the laydown of the century.
On a board of 6♣ 6♦ 2♥ K♥ 6♥, the Malaysian businessman pitched pocket kings into the muck when facing a large bet from Andras Nemeth. After collecting his chips, the Hungarian player obliged his opponent by showing that he did indeed have a six for quads.
China’s Lian Zhang just dipped out when his top pair and straight flush draw didn’t come in.
Phil Ivey was out in tenth place with a prize of $41,000, and minutes later we had the final table set.

Player | Chips | Big Blinds |
Sam Greenwood | 4,795,000 | 38 |
Gavin Andreanoff | 3,805,000 | 30 |
Alex Foxen | 3,375,000 | 27 |
Lautaro Guerra | 3,110,000 | 25 |
Danny Tang | 2,480,000 | 20 |
Stephen Chidwick | 1,435,000 | 11 |
Nacho Barbero | 1,000,000 | 8 |
Lots of talent needed to fight through this table for the win.
PLO being what it is, it didn’t take Nacho Barbero long to lose his last 8bb. On the very first hand of final table play, Foxen relieved him of his chips and scored a $40,000 bounty.
Chidwick was now the short stack but a timely double-up against Foxen bumped him up to mid-pack.
Only a couple of hands later the pair clashed again, this time ending Chidwick’s run.
Average stack was now only 13bb, seriously reducing the impact of skill level but also making it more exciting.
All eyes were now on Danny Tang and Gavin Andreanoff as the pair wielded only five big blinds each.
Tang risked his chips first, jamming A♦ Q♥ 8♠ 5♦ and he got a call from Guerra with K♠ Q♠ 9♣ 6♠.
A king hit the flop but there was nothing for Tang and he exited in fifth place
Andreanoff returned from the break with only 2bb to play with. His chips went in against Guerra who hit a straight to decide the podium finishers.
Andreanoff took home $303,000, including $120,000 for his three bounties.

On the very next hand, Alex Foxen ran out of steam when guerra’s K♣ J♠ 10♠ 6♥ flopped a flush and Foxen set of aces c ame unstuck after bets went in on every street.
The American banked $341,000 including $120,000 for three bounties.
Heads-up was a bit of a damp squib. Guerra now had a stack of 45bb while Sam Greenwood couldn’t hope for much with only five of his own.
And so it was to be: on the first hands of the heads-up battle, Greenwood went with 10♦ 9♦ 6♣ 5♣ and got a call from K♠ K♣ 10♣ 4♥. The kings were enough and Lautaro Guerra was crowned champion, taking down his maiden Triton title.
