Dan “Jungleman” Cates has tweeted out an offer to give his own “official” rankings of his fellow poker players in the same style as chess ratings. This idea has been mooted before but there are too many difficulties involving the natural variance of poker.

Of course, it didn’t take long before the troll comments started to appear as nobody appeared to take Jungleman seriously.

If the idea could be worked out somehow, it would be a great way to follow players. Especially those who are seen as rising talents ready to challenge the best in the world.
Dan Cates and Phil Galfond Pause Galfond Challenge Match
Last week, Jungleman took up the mantle in the latest Galfond Challenge battle. The pair have been duelling in a $100/$200 match with Jungleman vying to become the first player to defeat Phil Galfond in this format.
Galfond returned to top-flight action by offering all-comers the chance to face him in a high-stakes match with the entire battle being streamed online with commentary. So far, he has defeated everyone who stepped up.
Day 1 saw Phil Galfond run up a $10K win—only half a buy-in! —and on the following day, Jungleman started to take control, booking a nice $50K profit. The next day he increased his lead up to $75,000.
Can Phil Galfond make another of his impressive comebacks? We think so, but scheduling conflicts mean we have no idea when the pair will square off once again.
FYI, @junglemandan is not taking a break.
