Jungleman says he’s “gonna turn Phil Galfond into a shish kebab” in upcoming Galfond Challenge

High stakes heads-up matches are all the rage these days and there was plenty of hype coming from Jungleman Dan Cates this week as he told the poker world just why he is the man to topple the so-far undefeated Phil Galfond and all of this as Brandon Adams announces that he quits the Galfond Challenge after only four sessions!

Dan “Jungleman” Cates going up against Phil Galfond

Brandon Adams interviewed Jungleman on his podcast ahead of Adams’ own resumption of a battle against Galfond, the Run It Once Poker boss currently $145,000 up as he looks to bag his 4th full victory in the PLO Challenge series.

Jungleman Dan, however, has other ideas:

“I decided to take on Phil Galfond because he just seems like such a nice guy, he’s always nice and everything…he never does anything wrong or gets angry, but I see through his fucking bullshit! OK?

“I see Mr Falcons for what he really is, and he needs someone to taking his fucking ass down, clip his fucking wings and just…bury him in the sand! And he needs someone fucked up like me.”

Phil likely made Cates even more irate when he replied in his usual lovely mode, eliciting some much-needed Twitter advice…

It’s not the first time Cates has called Galfond out, although things didn’t go quite as well as he had hoped for on that occasion.

A 750-hand mini-match resulted in an €86,870 win for Galfond, but it was the sidebet that had poker fans rolling on the floor laughing.

Instead of money, it was agreed that “The loser will post a video explaining why the winner is a better poker player & a better man.” That resulted in an astonishingly dark piece of movie acting from Cates…

Phil Galfond’s marvellous track record

His chance to “fucking destroy” his nemesis “Mr Falcons” was put to one side as Galfond took on Chance Kornuth, and he added another scalp and a huge chunk of money to his PLO belt…

Galfond had already defeated online PLO beasts VeniVidi1993 and Actionfreak, with a couple of winning sessions worth $90k against Bill Perkins, plus the mini-match victory over Cates.

There’s no word yet on when the Cates-Galfond showdown will happen, but Jungleman already has a plan of sorts — and it involves turning Phil into a “shish kebab”, among other grilled delicacies by the look of things…

When they finally take to the felt, Galfond and Cates have agreed to play 7500 hands of €100/€200 PLO, which will make it one of the shortest PLO Challenge matches so far, but also definitely the most prestigious and anticipated.

Of course, we’ll be here with all the best of the action as and when it happens, so be sure to check in daily for the latest updates.

Brandon Adams quits Galfond Challenge!

The date for that match is listed at “TBD”, but it could start rather sooner than later since the previous opponent Brandon Adams has just announced that he quits.

After only four online sessions and 2,900 hands, Galfond already had built a massive $295,000 lead in their $100/$200 match, so Adams decided he better quits quickly before more and significant damage is done.
