Joseph Sanders Claims WSOP 2024 $1,500 6-Handed Pot-Limit Omaha Title

Joseph Sanders has seized victory in Event #90: $1,500 6-Handed Pot-Limit Omaha after three exciting days of competition.

The Las Vegas-based cash game player is a PLO tournament fan  who has scored some decent cashes in the past in both the WSOP and PokerGO Tour events.

Sanders defeated Russia’s Anatoliy Zlotnikov to claim his first bracelet and a $269,530 first-place prize.

The 1,306-player field included some of the best PLO players in the game, quite impressive for a $1,500 buy-in event.

Final Action

After two days of fierce action, six players returned for Day 3 to decide who would be crowned champion.

But even with the short field, the players were still duelling with deep stacks and the session began in tepid fashion with nobody wanting to risk much.

It took 90 minutes before short-stacked Dustin Nelson was sent to the rail but the fans were then expecting an increase in aggression. Sadly, they were disappointed because the pace dropped dramatically.

Eventually, Mike Leah’s stack has been frittered away in enough small pots to leave him with only 13 big blinds which ended up all-in against aces and no help was forthcoming.

Now the pace really increased, with the chip lead switching hands multiple times in quick succession.

Zlotnikov was the man making most of the waves having come back from the brink with only a 10 big blind stack.

First he sent Long Tran packing with a full house and then only a couple of hands later he rivered a straight to knock out Alfred Karlsson.

This flurry of action left the Russian with a two-to-one advantage going into heads-up play but the edge was soon in the hands of Sanders.

The American doubled up when he rivered a full house to beat the turned straight of his opponent. Then he forced a fold in a large pot to leave him within touching distance of the bracelet.

The next time the chips went into the middle, Sanders’ set pipped Zlotnikov’s top two pair and the event was over.
