Even strict COVID restrictions in the Czech Republic couldn’t stop the 2021 WSOP Europe Main Event from becoming a huge success by attracting a record field of 688 players!
There were a staggering €6,536,000 in the prize pool and a whopping €1,276,712 waiting for the winner of last night’s Final Table.
French Pokerstar Johan “YoH ViraL” Guilbert makes it to heads-up play
Biggest name on the final table was French Pokerstar Johan Guilbert. “YoH Viral” has one of the biggest Twitch Poker streams in the world with an impressive 2,730,000 views and 85,800 followers.
Guilbert has made the transition to high roller events this year, which turned out to be a great decision, since he topped his largest score three times within the last four months.
First “YoH ViraL” won the $25,000 No Limit Hold’em Super High Roller Bowl Europe Event #2 for $506,250, just to top this massive score only four days later by finishing 3rd in the $ 100,000 No Limit Hold’em SHRB Europe Event #6 for $560,000.
Making it to the heads-up of the prestigious WSOPE Main Event is the biggest success of his poker career though, although he lost against Josef Gulas Jr.
Epic Heads-Up Battle
After Guilbert has eliminated German player Alexander Tkatschew in 3rd place for €558,505. he took a big 2.5 to 1 chip lead into the heads-up vs. local hero Josef Gulas took control straight away.
It took Gulas only a few hands to turn a 2.5 to 1 deficit into a 2 to 1 lead, but it was far from over as afterwards the chip lead went back and forth.
The preliminary decision fell when Josef Gulas flopped Two Pair with against top pair decent kicker of Johan on .

During the entire festival, he only entered the Opener and then spent the days on the cash game tables while waiting for the Main Event to start, for which he had an entry locked up thanks to his third place finish in the €250 IPS Main Event this past June. He would have entered the Main Event via direct buy-in anyways as the many ticket winners at King’s Resort promised a big field but instead did so at a bargain.
