Jared Kingery Takes Gold in Event #44: $2,000 No-Limit Hold’em

Jared Kingery was the last man standing in the $2K NL event, claiming a $410,359 prize after defeating Spain’s Javier Gomez in a brief heads-up battle.

1,561 players fought valiantly over the three days, each with their eyes on the solid $2,778,580 prize pool.

Kingery has made consistent progress in his live tournament career, coming close to a bracelet in the 2022 series in the $500 Housewarming tournament, and now he has reached new heights with ever more lofty goals sure to come.

Impressively, he isn’t even a professional player — yet, at least. His day-to-day work is as a longshoreman in Washington state.

So, the close to $1 million live tournament winnings he has achieved in the last two and a half years is a damn fine performance.

Final Action

Seventeen players returned for Day 3 with plenty of early eliminations. Huihan Wu missed out on a final table appearance after clashing with Juan Carlos Vecino to bust in eleventh place.

Kingery quickly stamped his authority on the table making several large double-ups, including against Javier Gomez.

The heads-up portion of the event didn’t really provide much entertainment as Kingery and Gomez went at it right from the get go.

A standard all-in confrontation with ace-queen versus ace-jack saw the best hand win without any drama and Kingery was crowned as the champion.

After collecting his bracelet, Kingery told the media that he only has nine days to play in the WSOP 2024, also revealing that he didn’t even make it there last year as his daughter was making her appearence into the world.

This makes his career record so far all the more impressive.
