The $100k Isolation Prop Bet we told you about last week doesn’t involve Huck Seed after all – although the legendary WSOP Main Event champ did offer to do a $1 million version of it, complete with cockroaches!
Instead it is Vegas poker pro Rich Alati who will attempt to spend 30 days and 30 nights locked in a darkened room. Left with only a supply of food and a Rubik’s Cube for company – and the story has gone viral…
This is true. Poker pros Rory Young and Rich Alati made a bet that Rich could not stay locked in complete darkness inside a bathroom for 30 days. The wager awarded $100,000 to the winner. Would you do it? ~ @FMRon https://t.co/2x2B5rLvRT

The details of the bizarre, and possibly dangerous, isolation prop bet were revealed by online poker player Rory Young. Who found himself chatting to Alati at the Bellagio Casino.
No light, no sound…no problem!
Indulging in a bout of the famous game Lodden Thinks, Alati told Young “Oh, I can easily do that!” when the Bathroom Isolation Prop Bet came up in discussion.
Now Alati currently finds himself holed up in a sound-proofed, child-proofed, completely darkened bathroom in an undisclosed location, no human contact, no electronics, no way of telling the time.
Dangerous and unethical or consenting adults?
With Alati naturally incommunicado, it has been left to Yong to explain the ins-and-outs of the $100k wager, and answer critics who say it’s too dangerous to spend so long alone in the dark.
“If it’s two consenting adults where it doesn’t hurt a third party, why does anyone have any issue?” he explained to reporters. “I could see if one of the parties wasn’t stable enough to make a coherent decision themselves, but that’s not the case. I would make the bet again.”
Young added that: “Most interesting was a liability clause. We both signed a waiver that protected each other from being sued by the other party.”
Not everyone feels the same way, Daniel Negreanu’s Twitter post producing a lot of comments worried about the effects on Alati’s health…
Nope – I give him about three, maybe four days before he starts getting a bit buggy. I hope they have a mental health professional to monitor his psychological state throughout this stunt. His health needs to be the top priority.

…although highstakes pro Brian Rast isn’t convinced that Young has booked an easy win with his 1:1 odds…
All the people saying this is impossible are underestimating what someone can do when they are willing to push themselves to the limit. That said, for a person without complete mental health (anxiety, etc…) this could be not doable.

Night-vision cameras and reality TV?
According to some reports, there are ‘five night-vision cameras broadcasting around the clock’ with only Alati’s family and a few select others having access to the feed, and there are apparently plans afoot to turn the bet into a ‘reality TV show’ of some sort.
None of this seems to be sitting well with Alati’s sister it seems, Young explaining that “She tried very hard to get him to pull out and he wasn’t having it. She’s pretty worried.”
The Huck Seed angle
The initial rumors that it was 2006 WSOP Main Event champ Huck Seed taking on the crazy isolation prop bet were a bit off the mark, but not too far-fetched as young explained.
“The other night, I get a phone call from a random number and it’s Huckleberry Seed. Long story short, he wants to do it for a million, but he wants much tougher conditions.” Apparently Seed offered to do it “with no bed, no food for the first 21 days, he’d do it for a total of 40 days, and just water. Also, he said I could put some cockroaches in the bathroom.”
