Ike Haxton calls for Sam Soverel’s disqualification
The $50k High Roller at the WSOP should have been purely a celebration for the winner Ben Heath, but a highly-controversial incident involving Sam Soverel has seen the focus changed to accusations and recriminations…
If this is reported accurately, anything less than disqualification and fourth place money for Sam is insufficient. You absolutely can’t let people get away with shit like this at the final table of a $50k. @wsophttps://t.co/E2D3CS3xTb

As the video below will show, the final four were battling for the bracelet and a top prize of $1,484,085 – with huge payjumps along the way, 2nd spot worth $917,232, third $640,924, and a fourth place finish $458,138.
The along came THAT hand, one that has since gone viral in the poker world…
Soverel’s fold out of turn at such an important moment saw Russian Dmitry Yurasov jump from his seat, his tournament life over barring a lucky runout when Heath called knowing there would be no more action behind him.
Justin Bonomo adds that this is not the first time
A simple mistake by Sam Soverel, albeit a potentially very costly one for Yurasov? Not according to Ike Haxton as the opening tweet suggests, and not according to Justin Bonomo…both tagging Soverel as a serial angleshooter…
Even if Sam’s fold out of turn was completely unintentional (obviously I don’t think it was), there still needs to be a sizable penalty for it
1) it’s his responsibility to not do that
2) he gains thousands of dollars in equity by doing itThat equity gain needs to be corrected

Soverel has claimed it was a mistake, but Justin Bonomo decided to share a group chat message that seemed to show Soverel laughing off his ‘Cary Katz move’…
The above tweet from Ike is only a partial list of a VERY long history of pulling angles. They’re admittedly mostly small ones, but he’s never shown any sign of remorse. He always just cackles. He enjoys this stuff and doesn’t give a fuck pic.twitter.com/Fk1Qb5Qq6P

That in itself brought Bonomo under fire, others including Doug Polk saying he shouldn’t have shared what was ‘obviously’ a private joke – but according to both Haxton and Bonomo, the villain of the piece Sam Soverel has a histry of such things…
You can make up your own mind on Sam, but just know he has a history of pulling this shit
He will just straight flip over someone’s hand from the muck and then laugh about it. I’ve seen him do this 5+ times
This is his rep: https://t.co/SwUNF4Uh3s

Not everyone was raging at Soverel and screaming ‘angleshooter!’, however, with former WSOP Main Event champ Ryan Riess setting up a Twitter poll to gauge the poker publics mood…
What are your thoughts on the Sam Soverel hand?
(Please watch video before answering)

…although almost everyone was agreed that he deserved a penalty of some sort, Soverel actually escaping scot-free from his huge blunder/angle.
Ike Haxton was all for DQ-ing Soverel completely, with a year-long WSOP ban to go with it.
I think he should be disqualified, his chips should come out of play, and he should get fourth place money. And 1yr ban from WSOP events.
Realistically, I don’t think a floor would be likely to do that. A long enough penalty that he is blinded in 3rd is realistic and fair.— Isaac Haxton (@ikepoker) June 3, 2019
Others were less inclined to lop Soverel’s poker head-off so brutally, although the villain himself felt he deserved a penalty as the following interview shows…

Joe Ingram is investigating already
Enter Joe Ingram and a question many had asked previously – a hugely important tournament and there were no floor staff on hand to give a timely ruling..?
I’ve watched this $50k WSOP possible angleshoot hand about 500 times so far and still can’t figure out where the WSOP floor man or someone that works for the WSOP was at during the hand.
$50k tournament w/ $1.4mm up top seems like a good spot to have someone working the event.

…and the promise of a typically Ingramesque investigation video to follow…
This video is going to be longer than I expected it to be. I know it will get people riled up in both directions so I want to be careful how I present it. Probably will spend 7-10+ hours on editing it how I want it to look.
